If you fancy trying your hand at a range of watersports, it’s a 10-minute drive to the local sailing centre for sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding and windsurfing – both kit rental and lessons for those who are baffled by technique. Head west for half an hour to hit Pointe de la Torche, a somewhat wilder stretch of coast that’s got great surfing and scuba diving. Staying on top of the water, a boat trip to the Glénan Islands is a highly recommended day out. Sail over from the port at Loctudy, 10 minutes’ drive away, to see the white sandy beaches and bright blue seas that give the archipelago its nickname of the Breton Tahiti. A little further afield, it’s also worth making the trip to Quimper, half an hour away, to see the Gothic cathedral and visit the museums, and walking around the walled town of Concarneau, 50 minutes away.
