Set up in a remote spot with birdsong and farm animals as your morning soundtrack… Park Hill Farm is a scenic site on a dog-friendly working farm 10 minutes’ drive from Market Drayton, in north Shropshire. And in case you’re wondering just how scenic the location is… well, it overlooks the Cheshire Plains, Wrekin and the Welsh hills, as well as sitting alongside a woodland that is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The site is set up for wild camping – meaning back-to-basics (and eco-friendly) facilities including composting toilets that use sawdust and a convenient washing-up station, but no electricity or showers. There’s no WiFi, either, so instead of scrolling on their phones, children can let off steam in the fresh air and get involved in meeting the animals with the farmer (new friends may include pigs, cows and cats). Sourcing supplies for a gas barbecue is simple, since the site sells free-range eggs from its happy hens, along with its own beef burgers, pork sausages and bacon, plus a handful of pre-packaged essentials like bread, milk, breakfast cereals and ice creams. As the site is a 'leave no trace' place, they do ask that you take all of your rubbish home. If you’re in need of any extras, the village of Loggerheads (10 minutes’ drive along the A53) has a couple of small shops, as well as a pub and an Indian restaurant. If you want to leave the car behind, Loggerheads can be reached with a splendid 15-minute walk through the country. (This is just one of several paths you can take from the site through the local woodlands and farmlands. The farm shop has maps you can borrow.)

Gostou Beautiful quiet campsite with amazing views! Plenty of space and also clean toilets and washing up facilities. The farm shop on site is brilliant and we had delicious burgers and bacon. We will definitely be back!

Gostou Lovely site, friendly hosts, we hired a fire pit which was lovely, just for an additional £10. We pitched by the water trough so we got a lovely mid afternoon visit from the cows. They have a wash station and clean toilets too.

Não gostou Another camper had their headlights on their car all night which shone into our tent. So we didn’t get much sleep - not the hosts problem though! There was loud music coming from somewhere in the night too which was bizarre because it really feels cut off from everything

We are sorry to hear of your problems. The loud base music was from a concert, probably WestonPark or Shrewsbury, both over 20 miles away. It was such a still night, so the sound carried. We only heard it outside.

The car with the headlights was a nuisance. Had we known, we would have asked her to turn them off or leave. This was our first experience of a car camper, so we will be more on the ball for the next one. Thank you.

If you manage another get away and come back to us, be sure to let us know if we can help with issues on the camp site. We are truly sorry this camper spoilt your stay.

Gostou Stayed for a night with our tent and very happy we did. The campsite was so peaceful and Pat and John very nice and accommodating. We even got greeted by the cows in the morning in the next field. Beautiful view and location, quiet and with a forest next door which has some great tracks which the dogs loved. Eco toilets were very clean and accessible as was water and a sink for washing the pots etc. We booked late and arrived late and Pat and John were extremely welcoming and all was efficient and organised.
