It was a small quiet campsite wirh not alot to do around. So if you're happy to sit and relax and go for walks its the perfect place. There's a large park there and a pool that you can book at a small cost. Showers and toilets were clean bur slightly dated. If you have little ones there is on the park and pool around so you'd need to drive to take them somewhere as there a shop and a pub that is open most of the week.

The campsite emailed the morning we were due to arrive telling us we needed to print a sheet with our name and registration to place in our tent/car. Now I've no problem with this however not alot of people have access to printers including myself so we had to go to the library to print it off. I think more notice would be helpful to give time to get it printed.

Bit cramped

The location was ideal. As grandparents travelling with our 6yr old grandson (his first experience of “tenting”) it was perfect
A small site (10)pitches we found it was mostly families with younger children - the open air pool was a great addition as well as the play park area next to pitches
The river Esk running behind site was great for a cooling walk as well as an opportunity for the older “children” mainly the dads, to try their hand at river fishing
The volunteers running the facilities were very friendly and informative on local area too
A very relaxed site

The toilets and shower facilities were not great - however I can only comment on ladies facilities - they were cleaned by volunteers however due to sharing with pool users they could have done with a more regular clean
There was a mop and bucket for users to dry floors after use - but I didn’t see evidence of this - perhaps a few signs asking individuals to clean up after themselves would have helped remind individuals

It was a bit of a walk in dark along a track from camp site to toilets (especially late at night) would recommend if travelling with younger children take a portable loo

The pitches were spacious, the electric and water were very accessible. The park and playing field were great for my son. We swam in the river and even caught some tiny fish. The local outdoor pool was great to cool down in on a hot sunny day and the volunteers in there do an amazing job!

The site is great if you want a quiet stay. The volunteers were helpful and polite. A great playground for the kids and the swimming pool is a great distraction for the kids in the afternoons. The river running near it gives some amazing walks for all. It’s well situated for towns like Penrith and Carlisle and the scenery is stunning. All in all a lovely little site and great value.

Toilets might be too far for some I suppose but is only a couple minutes away by foot. Internet and phone signal is poor but added to the quietness. The things people might say are a dislike are in reality nothing the volunteers can change.

Just got back from a 4 night stay here. Kids loved it campsite small so everyone interacted. Outside pool is lovely and very well taken care of. Playground is a good size for all age of kids and literally next to the campsite and th other side of the campsite is a nice river with lovely views and walks. The campsite is ran by volunteers and they were all so so friendly regularly came to check on us campers and ensure everything was ok.

Not really a dislike but you definitely need a car if you want to get out and about.

Nice small community run site with only a maximum of maybe 7 good size pitches in one field. Flat pitches.
Pool and cafe were lovely as were all the local people working there.
Playground looked great too.
Remember to book the pool in advance as it was full on the lovely warm summer days.

Beware of poor WiFi and 4G for anyone with teenagers who feel this is the end of the world!

Absolutely loved this campsite it was so peaceful and chilled! Would definitely visit again

The things that let this campsite down are ……there needs to be a gate on the entrance to the campsite for security reasons literally anyone can drive down it didn’t really feel safe! Also it needs lights going up the track to the toilets as it’s pitch black! I hate writing things like this but honestly it’s a lovely campsite it’s just these things that let it down!

Not much to like although it's in a pretty place by a nice river.

Top end site prices for very low end facilities, very over priced, no reception or contact support, it's run by volunteers and the fees do support the local pool which is not included in the price for camping, we suffered a night from help with a large group of drunken, selfish campers partying until 1am.
