Words might seem a little redundant here in the face of those mesmerising pictures (that sand, those bright blue waters – it’s not hard to see how they settled on the ‘paradise’ moniker). Do read on though, for things get even better at Camping Baia Paradiso, three kilometres from Badesi. For starters you’ll likely be delighted to hear that it’s got direct access to Li Junchi beach, where you can stretch out on a sun lounger at the serviced area, or trot a little further to seek out a quieter spot in which to spread your towel (you’ve got eight kilometres to choose from). You could easily spend many an hour or day (possibly the rest of your life) at that beach, but if you do fancy a bit of activity you need only stroll back to the site for a game of tennis or football or a swim in the pool. In high season you can also join a gym class while the bambini head to the kids' club for games and creative antics. And it’s worth burning a few calories so you can take full advantage of the site’s foodie offerings – breakfasts, snacks and ice creams from the bar, and excellent meals at the restaurant. A barbecue area and small shop are on hand if you’d rather freestyle; just make sure you’ve feasted in time to get to the evening’s show and dancing at the amphitheatre.

If you’re not really a sitting on the beach type, you’re in luck – Li Junchi is also a hotspot for watersports, with kitesurfing and surf lessons on hand for those whose technique needs a bit of a boost. The folk on site can also suggest coastal routes if you’d like to stretch your legs or ride your bike. For a different way to see your surrounds, join a kayaking trip along the Coghinas river or trot over to the riding stables 15 minutes’ walk away to canter through the surf. Too much effort? Join a boat trip from Isola Rossa, a 15-minute drive away, and you’ll get some fab views of hidden coves as you cross to the southern corner of Corsica. If you’ve still an appetite for more watery antics, take the 15-minute drive to Aquafantasy waterpark; if you’ve decided it’s time to stick to dry land for a while, perhaps head south for 25 minutes or so to get to the citadel of Castelsardo.
