Vendée veteran or first-time visitor, you’re likely venturing here in search of some combo of the area’s trademark beaches, greenery, bike paths and family-friendly attractions.
Have easy access to them all with a stay at Camping Les Preveils Atlantique, a family-friendly place 10 minutes’ drive from the centre of La Tranche-sur-Mer. Placing firm ticks alongside the first two on that list are its fab location, in four acres of pine forest with direct access to a splendid sandy beach. Bike paths are nearby for two-wheeled travels (with bikes for hire on site), and there’s a lengthy list of days out within a half-hour drive.
Not that the folks here rely on the setting alone – mais non, they’ve kitted the place out with a whole heap of facilities on top of all that. Active types can splash in the outdoor pool (heated to a balmy 25ºC), gather for games at the multisports pitch or join a healthy range of alfresco fitness and dance classes. Meanwhile, those seeking serene times can play a gentle game of pétanque or slope off to the spa for a pamper sesh.
A playground is on site for les enfants, and the kids’ club runs throughout the summer. Given that grumpy nippers are no fun on hols, evening entertainment doesn’t run late into the night. You shouldn’t risk going hungry either, with a bar, restaurant and snack kiosk on hand for easy eats.

Atrações locais
If you’d like to get active on the beach, trot along to the watersports centre 10 minutes away to hire paddleboards, kayaks or pedaloes, or head into La Tranche-sur-Mer for windsurf lessons. Wannabe wakeboarders can give it a go 15 minutes’ drive away at Atlantic Wake Park, and there are waterslides to whoosh down 20 minutes away at O’Gliss waterpark.
Staying dry for a while, clamber into the trees for the adventure course at Indian Forest (20 minutes) or keep closer to the ground zooming your way round the Vendée Kart Circuit (10 minutes). Pirate-themed treasure hunts, cowboy demos and dino-spotting trails can be had Le Château des Aventuriers, 20 minutes away.
Visits to Chateau de Talmont, half an hour away, often feature displays of jousting and falconry, plus lots of medieval-themed activities for the nippers to join in with. You can frequently get hands-on with the marine residents of the Vendée Aquarium (40 minutes) in high season too.
