Come for the farmyard fun – stay for the walks, beach days, watersports, family attractions… Maes Carafanau Penbryn Caravan Site is part of a working farm in the village of Gwalchmai, and it’s a fabulous spot indeed for families, couples and solo visitors alike. As you may expect from a farm, there’s lovely green scenery all around here, with paths leading directly from the site to some scenic walking and bike trails. And of course there are farm animals too – this place is home to chickens, sheep, horses and ponies. Facilities here include a play area for the kids and a dog field where visiting canines can have a good run about. There’s also a well-equipped modern bathroom block with toilets, showers, an accessible/family bathroom and a washing-up area. An Elsan point and grey waste point are also provided, and there are picnic tables for your meals (perhaps cooked on a barbecue, which you’re welcome to bring along). The village centre is five minutes’ walk away for a shop, pub and bus stop. This is a rural location, but it’s also a strategic one for getting out to explore all that Anglesey has to offer. It’s fairly central within the island, and nearby access to the A5 and A55 means that it’s easy to get to whichever attractions and activities you’d like to fill your days with – even Beaumaris, at the far eastern end of the island, is only 25 minutes’ drive away.

Gostou Quiet, central location. The new toilet and shower blocks were kept very clean all the time. The owners were friendly and welcoming. The kettle and fridge for everyone to use was a nice addition. Level pitches.

Gostou Fantastic little site. This was our first caravan holiday and we were so pleased here. The facilities were immaculate as they were regularly cleaned. The owners are very friendly, helpful and engaging. Our children really enjoyed it here. There was a park, football field and animals (chickens, horses and sheep) and it was safe for them to play. Location was easy to access with a van (no country lanes) and with being a central location everything was only a short drive away so we manged to explore alot of Anglesey. We will certainly be returning.

Gostou Fabulous campsite, a real gem. Iola and Zoe were fantastic hosts and couldn't do enough to help everyone. Facilities are brand new and spacious. Fantastic rural views. Showers were amazing. Pitches large and with your own drinking water tap. Well stocked shop and a pub only a short walk. Public transport links from the village. Will definitely stay again.

Gostou Everything was lovely and clean, owners were lovely and helpful, my daughter loved the horses and ponies, my boys played football and loved the pitch.

Não gostou Only thing we weren't happy about was dogs next to us barking 3am and all the family up 7am dead loud and woke us up but nothing to do with the campsite we were on.

Gostou Lovely site, nice flat pitch with our own electric & water supply. Play area for children & separate play field for ball games etc. There's a fenced field for dogs to enjoy, and farm animals in the fields surrounding. My toddler especially enjoyed watching the chickens in their coop.
Lovely modern & clean shower blocks & toilets, plenty of space to shower & get changed and plenty of light. 5 mins walk from town, where there's a small shop.
Pleasant owners.We had a great time thank you!

Gostou Really clean facilities, some of the best I’ve seen in a campsite! Owner is very friendly and gave some good recommendations as to what to do while in the area
Pitches are a good size.
There is a small playground too
Got some nice chickens there too!

Gostou The shower and toilet facilities were excellent. The people running the site were very friendly and helpful. Hookup was excellent.

Não gostou It was great having a dog exercise area, although a little small compared to other sites we've visited. It was conveniently located on the site. The only thing we noticed was there was no general and recycling waste area. The site is very new so we assume that this facility hasn't been set up yet due to negotiation with the local council's relevant department.

Do gerente: Thank you for your review and we're glad that you enjoyed your stay. Regarding the general waste and the recycling area, there is a large compound right next to the entrance with a choice of 8 bins, ranging from food waste, glass, plastic, cardboard and general waste. The map you were given upon checkin also shows where the compound is. There is also a poster by the washing up area stating this. We apologies if you missed these.

Atrações locais

Anglesey is an island, of course, so the coast is always a big draw. You may like to seek out natural attractions like South Stack island (25 minutes’ drive), head to beaches like Rhosneigr (10 minutes) and Benllech (25 minutes) or take a boat ride from Beaumaris (25 minutes) to Puffin Island. For walkers, there’s always the option of a jaunt along the Anglesey Coastal Path (or part of it anyway – the whole thing is about 135 miles long). The colourful surroundings of former copper mine Parys Mountain (half an hour) are also lovely to walk through, or you could head to Newborough (20 minutes) to walk through the pine forest to the beach and out to Ynys Llanddwyn. Beaumaris Castle (25 minutes) and Plas Newydd House and Gardens (20 minutes) are top picks for historic buildings to visit; for family days out, try Pili Palas Nature World (15 minutes), Anglesey Sea Zoo (25 minutes) or GreenWood Family Park (25 minutes).
