If you haven't been to the beach at Woolacombe yet… why ever not? These stunning and award-winning sands have been hailed as the best in all of Britain and among the top in Europe (sometimes even on the entire planet): you'll see why the second you get there… Glimpses of this spectacular stretch of sand can be had from Combas Farm, a family-run site in a secluded valley within sauntering distance of Croyde village. Guests have been returning here for years for the spectacular and handy north Devon setting, as well the warm vibe that owners Gwen and Sally and their team have created: the words 'friendly' and 'helpful' crop up time and again in guests' reviews. Most folk also mightily appreciate the spotlessly kept and modern amenities on the farm too, set in a converted barn and including powerful hot showers, immaculate toilets, a washing-up area and sockets for gadget charging. Camping is in four fields – one with those stunning views over Woolacombe Bay and the others closer to the swish facilities. A half-mile trot along a farm track leads to the shops and pubs of Croyde village; the site is also about a 15-minute stroll from Putsborough beach. Firepits and barbecues are allowed: pick up all you could need for either of these in Braunton, 15 minutes' drive away. Several pubs and restaurants are also within walking distance.

Gostou A lovely, peaceful field, conveniently located only a short walk from the glorious Putsborough beach and from Croyde village in the other direction. We were allocated a huge amount of space and there was flexibility about where to pitch. We loved having the fire pit provided. We also thought the compost toilets were very good and effective, and eco-friendly of course. It's a secluded spot, perfect for stargazing at night. The facilities near the farmhouse were very clean and convenient. We liked having somewhere to boil a kettle and charge phones, and also that there was a drying room. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Não gostou It's to be expected that a secluded spot will be 'tucked away', but I did find the narrow local lanes slightly daunting (despite being a Devon girl myself!). There are passing places and you have to make a mental note of where they are. It's also a little inconvenient having a fairly long walk to the main facilities (this applies to Mrs. Tucker's Field).

Thank you for your review, I am pleased you enjoyed the seclusion of our campsite and easy access to Putsborough beach and Croyde village.

We do attach an information leaflet to our camper's emails with an easier route to the farm other than following Sat Nav, Sat Nav loves the lanes! Unfortunately it is a walk from Mrs Tuckers field, our Pitchup campers are generally much closer to the farmhouse but on this occasion you opted to join your friends.

Hopefully we will see you again sometime in the future.

Gostou Very friendly welcome and the pitch was nice and flat with a field of highland cattle in front of us. The facilities were spotless. The site is only a 10 minute walk down a scenic track (no traffic) to Croyde. The camp site is in a perfect location for the beaches - very short walk to Puttscombe and from there Woolacombe.

Gostou We have stayed with Combas for the last two years and love it. The facilities are incredibly clean and of very high quality, The family are so friendly and always on hand to help if needed. The milkshakes are such a big hit with the teenagers and little touches like free charging points, kettle, tea and coffee really make all the difference. The pitches are the biggest we have stayed at and we camp very often; we are able to get both our 6 man tent and our eldest sons 4 man tent on the same pitch, with ample room. The site is very quiet, the cows are great fun to watch and stars are amazing when its clear. Would highly recommend.

Atrações locais

The nearest beach is Putsborough Sands, at one end of Woolacombe Bay. It's generally a quieter spot than the rest of Woolacombe beach and is just one of the north Devon surfing destinations near the farm. Surf's also up at Saunton Sands, 20 minutes' drive from the farm, and at Croyde and Westward Ho! as well as the main Devon surf spots of Woolacombe and Ilfracombe. The spectacular South West Coast Path is also a must if you're anywhere around the shoreline of England's south west: join it at Croyde for the five-mile stretch to Woolacombe past the National Trust's fably-named Baggy Point, or hike a hefty 15 miles to go further south on the route from Woolacombe to Braunton. Another scenic option for walking – and cycling – is the Tarka Trail, the looping paths following the route of Henry Williamson's fictional otter. This one's accessible from Woolacombe too, but the most popular part is probably the car-free 31 miles between Meeth and Braunton: drop into the Museum of British Surfing at Braunton for the story of south-west surf if you have energy afterwards. More walks? Exmoor National Park is within 40 minutes' drive.
