Cornish for ‘hideout’, Kudhva is just that: a Cornish hideout that encourages people to meet, get creative and challenge themselves. Whether you’re discussing ideas and making new friends at the pop-up workshops, talks, music and food offerings or finding a spot to chill out and take a digital detox, you’ll be in the right place to recharge. Kudhva is set in 45 acres of wild Cornish landscape, which is a disused quarry with slate, grasslands, forest and sand. It’s an off-grid, adventurous site with 180-degree views of the coast (and when you want the sand up close, just walk 40 minutes to Trebarwith Beach). The site favours wildlife over manmade features. Their goal was to create an evolving landscape where they simply enhance the natural environment and live totally off grid in a tenderly-curated space. Guests are encouraged to live sustainably, get creative and join the passive learning movement. So, look out for the deer that run across the grasslands at night and watch the sunset over the Gull Rock. There’s a woodfired hot tub or a hammock suspended in the willow grove for relaxation, as well as a wild swimming lake if you fancy a quick plunge. The location is excellent too. Tintagel Castle is just 10 minutes’ drive away for those wanting to cross over the drawbridge and look around Merlin’s Cave below and there are plenty of surfing beaches within 25 minutes’ drive for those looking to catch some Cornish swells. There are also two pubs within a mile of the site (just five minutes’ drive).
