What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the Holme Pierrepont Country Park, near Nottingham are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; paddleboarding, open-top canoeing and the inflatable assault course Wipe Out. But! This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths or would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, miniature golf, a mini four-wheel drive course for kids, a kids' activity club and archery combat. A large play park, country walks and nature zones are also on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception; early booking is advisable). Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragonboat racing and triathlons. Lots is on offer too to keep the kids amused, including a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail a short stroll away. Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes' drive from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling selected groceries and camping supplies.

Gostou Good size pitch, well kept grass areas

Não gostou I have been charged for 3 nights not 2 even though I emailed and amended the booking 4 months prior to full payment I have called and emailed the site but as of yet still have not received a refund, the site is saying it is due to the pichup booking!! No water at the pitch, 2 x showers didn't work and looked like they needed updating

Gostou Good sized electric pitch, with nice clean shower & toilets. A good play area for kids too and plenty to do nearby.

Não gostou The campsite shop was very limited, but then most are.

Right next to the amazing aqua centre
Nice little shop with all the essentials

Gostou The campsite was lovely, and nicely laid out with great size pitches. Although they could do with updating the toilet and shower facilities were clean.
The outdoor activities were run well and there was something for all age groups.
For My friend and her 9 year old boy it was their 1st camping trip and they throughly enjoyed it. Staying busy and active helped. My son (5) also had a great time on site and doing the activities.
The lady in the shop was helpful and pleasant to speak with.
The staff working on the activities were pleasant and always willing to help. Grace in particular stood out, a young girl with compassion for me as an emotional mother and my son who was struggling with confidence on the sky trail. He managed 20 minutes before wanting to come off. A feat for him and she helped him so much.

Não gostou The facilities were outdated, making them look unclean, on a positive note, they were cleaned regularly, and throughly buy a cleaner who loved his music and seemed happy in his work.

Gostou Location to the regatta lake

Não gostou Lots.
1st thing was placed on a hard standing pitch not suitable for a tent and told we cannot move, 1 member of staff was rude, no locks on gents toilets, no light in ladies toilets at night, faeces all up the walls and no hot water on the Sunday morning, left a day early and missed the event.
Quiet time not enforced with screaming kids all the way up to midnight.
No WiFi either.

Gostou Location.

Não gostou Toilet and shower facilities filthy, no toilet roll in most of the cubicles. Facilities run down and in need of upgrade. Pitch was on a slope making it difficult and smaller usable area.

Gostou Water sports are a good option

Não gostou Toilets and showers very shabby and not being able to get in after 8pm meant we didn’t stay on our first night. Also we had booked a hard standing electric pitch as it was a trip for our son’s graduation and we didn’t want grass as would be in our outfits but you changed it to a grass pitch last minute.

If you've any energy left over or you're hardily thinking that the watery and land-based activities of the Holme Pierrepont Country Park just aren't enough, get along to the cycle paths of Colwick Country Park on the outskirts of Nottingham, which have miles of waterside biking alongside the River Trent. Wildlife watchers can wander around Skylarks Nature Reserve, owned by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, highly recommended by the Holme Pierrepont Country Park team and 15 minutes' drive from the site.
