Fancy taking a breather from daily life and heading to the Buckinghamshire countryside? Make a beeline for the family-owned Penn Meadow Farm, set in 145 acres of the Chiltern Hills National Landscape, where you can set up camp on a dog-friendly, tree-sheltered meadow with spectacular views over fields and forested valleys. Happy to hang out at the farm? The kids will probably love the chance to meet the resident pigs, sheep (with their lambs in spring) and alpacas, as well as Bobby the border collie. There’s plenty to do in the local area, too, with lots of public footpaths going straight from the pitches, red kites to watch soaring overhead and several golf courses within 20 minutes’ drive. If you feel like a foray into London, Marble Arch is just an hour’s drive away, but when your offspring find out that Legoland Windsor Resort is just 40 minutes in the car, chances are you’ll have no peace until you take them there. Back on site after your daytime expeditions, you’re welcome to have a small campfire in the evening, and the farm owners can supply wood. Alternatively, the site is five minutes’ stroll from Britain’s oldest free house, the half-timbered Royal Standard of England, where you can sample local ales and enjoy delicious roast dinners.

Gostou Spacious field. Facilities were really nice the host was really friendly and checked in on us. Views was really good and the pub was a 5 minute walk away and the Sunday lunch was incredible.

Gostou Stayed for one night only, so didn’t use facilities, but all seemed ready to be used and looked well stocked. Shower and toilet areas looked clean and tidy .
Site was good and very quiet at night slept like a log , early off in the morning so yes a good short stay.

Gostou I always love camping at Penn Meadow Farm, which is why I chose to celebrate my 60th birthday here with friends. Frankie kept the campsite open for us especially and obliged in every possible way. We had a wonderful fire and the fairy lights were turned on for us. The proximity to the excellenr Royal Standard pub and delightful Bekonscot model village added variety. Everything went perfectly. Thanks so much Frankie and family for making the weekend so awesome.

Não gostou Communication was a bit tricky at times, and for a while booking was accidentally closed. But it all turned out well in the end.

Gostou Everything! The space, views, facilities. The absolute star was the greeting we had when we arrived. She was so polite, bubbly and very helpful. What an absolute star she was. We will definitely be back. It has a great vibe and was just a very comfortable weekend. Can't wait to book again for next year!

Gostou Seeing the animals was lovely and we were able to give them a good scratch and feed them some carrots we bought. (The pigs especially loved these. Power of the showers was fab and the little details on the taps were realy cute. Communal kitchen area is a great idea and really useful.

Não gostou Access is a bit tricky. We got stuck in the mud on our way in but once we knew there was a different route in and along the drive, it was much simpler to gain access.
Toilet doors being wooden swell and make getting them closed properly a bit tricky. Could have also done with a bit more lighting outside the toilet area at night.

Thank you so much for taking time to leave your lovely feedback. The pigs are my personal favourite as they are so sweet and so excited to see people. The owner was featured on amazing spaces and little sweet features like the taps are very much from that. We have been so fortunate with the weather and the last weekends have shown new challenges we have to work on at the farm for wetter days. Over the closed period there is a huge amount of work planned so watch this space!

Surrounded by ancient woodland, National Trust - Hughenden (20 minutes’ drive) was the country home of Victorian prime minister Benjamin Disraeli and an RAF nerve centre during World War II. Check out the art collection and library inside the red-brick mansion, then take a stroll through the manicured gardens, with their pristinely maintained paths. See how our ancestors (both remote and recent) lived at Chiltern Open Air Museum (20 minutes), where reconstructed historic buildings range from an Iron Age roundhouse with mud walls and a thatched roof, to a 16th-century oak-framed barn, as well as Victorian structures and wartime prefabricated huts.
