Likte The beautiful "Secret Garden" - a little haven of peace and contemplation. Well-maintained and spotlessly clean showers, toilets and washing up area. Flat pitches. Campers' kitchen with fridge and freezer, and bad-weather shelter. Attentive and helpful hosts. Easy to find and access the site. In hot weather there are some shady pitches, though not enough for everyone. For surfers it's an ideal location at a good price.

Likte ikke Although the garden has the atmosphere of being set apart from the world, the reality is the site is only 500m from the edge of Braunton with the attendant traffic noise when the wind is in the wrong direction. Also, I did not enjoy the neighbouring farmer letting off his shotgun repeatedly at 7 each morning in pursuit of pigeons and rabbits. Although our hosts rather patronisingly dismissed it as "sounds of the country" (I wasn't complaining, I was just asking where the shooting was most likely to happen so we could choose a pitch as far away from it as possible) I've never had that experience on any other campsite, and at age 63 I've stayed on quite a few.
