What a stunning setting... Camping Lido is on the shores of spectacular Lake Maggiore, on the big and well-known beach of Parco Giona: come, see and stay for as long as you can manage (just think of the envy-inducing social media posts you can make...)
As you'd expect from the location, this is a top place for watersports: swimming, snorkelling, diving, fishing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and sailing are all around these waters, with kayak and boat rentals as well as lake excursions all available too.
That's the first couple of weeks taken care of... after that, you can zip between games of volleyball on the beach or bowling at the green, hit heady heights on the climbing wall, or whizz along to the skateboarding track to show off your moves. Off site, this pretty place is within easy each of Switzerland sightseeing at Locarno, Lugano and Bellinzona within 35 to 55 minutes.
Amenities at this big and family-friendly site include showers and toilets, disabled facilities, a parent and baby washroom and free wifi. Shops, restaurants and services such as pharmacies and banks are at Maccagno, 20 minutes' drive away.

Camping Lido has direct access through a private gate to the the wide and grass/pebble beach of Parco Giona just opposite the site. The clean water is suitable for swimming as well as watersports: wind conditions are generally favourable for sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing.
Cross the border into Switzerland for one of the many must-dos of the region, taking the Locarno–Madonna del Sasso funicular at the southern Swiss town of Locarno 35 minutes from the site. The funicular climbs steadily up to the Madonna del Sasso sanctuary 638 metres high up on a rocky spur over Lake Orta; make for the 'Cusio balcony' of the main square in front of the church for spectacular views over the lake, the Novara area and the Alps.
Three UNESCO-listed castles are at Bellinzona 45 minutes' drive away for those who crave more Italian history. If you're yearning for action instead, it's 55 minutes from the site to Lugano, home to the biggest network of mountain bike trails in Switzerland.
