Likte Lovely spot very wild but personal feel. Friendly helpful owner and staff. Basic facilities but welcoming communal area. Fabulous views be prepared for lots of uphill walking the further from the bar area you go 😅 totally worth it for the scenery!

Likte Joe is too friendly he is talkative and helpful person.
Campsite is clean and safe. As we travelled by electric car so our main concern was car charging station. There is apple green charging station just 15 min away from campsite.

Likte 🌄 A Hidden Gem in the Comeraghs – Crotty’s Lake Campsite

We had an unforgettable two-night stay at Crotty’s Lake Campsite, and it truly felt like discovering a hidden gem. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the tranquillity and natural beauty of the setting. The campsite is thoughtfully integrated into the landscape, with spacious pitches that feel private and totally immersed in the wild surroundings.

We were guided to a spot that perfectly suited our tent, but the flexibility to choose any pitch was a nice touch. The hosts, Joe and Bernard, are incredibly welcoming and passionate about the land and the experience they’ve created.

What sets this place apart is the atmosphere — calm, friendly, and refreshingly off-grid. Facilities are simple but well-maintained: a unisex toilet, an outdoor shower, and a communal area with free tea and coffee. Our kids loved the “honesty sweet shop” and the fresh water stream.

Falling asleep to the sound of the stream and waking up to breakfast amongst the ferns was exactly the reset we needed. It’s rare to find a place that feels so peaceful.

Joe and Bernard also share stories and legends of the area, adding a layer of meaning to the stay that’s unique and personal. Their care for the land and their guests is clear from the minute you arrive.

If you enjoy hiking, this is the perfect base. We loved our evening hike up to Crotty’s Lake — tip: from the wooden sign at the mast area, look slightly left toward the two pointy cliffs to find your way.

We’ll absolutely be back. This place is special.

Likte The campsite is in a beautiful location. We requested that we be pitched next to our friends which made for a smooth check in when we arrived the busy bank holiday weekend. The owners and staff are outstanding, they really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. 10/10 would stay here again. The bathroom was spotless and the honesty shop is such a great idea. It all adds to the charm of the campgrounds.

Likte Stayed for 2 nights. Great location to get the kids offline and back into the fresh air and a base to travel around. Great involvement from the owner and the manager too. No faff camping. Clean site throughout. Had our own light show from the 'All together Now' festival too which was surreal considering your surroundings. The lake is a must but it is a trek but it's definitely worth it. Toilet facilities served their purpose, nice little coffee dock adjoining it too. Even with a number of other campers with kids and dogs, the atmosphere was relaxed and calm. No issues with signal either was a nice bonus.

Likte Super gastvrije ontvangst en het meedenken van Joe en de eigenaar wat een goed plek is om te staan! Fruit en koffie en thee waren 24/7 beschikbaar! Geïnteresseerd in hun gasten. Een heerlijke plek waar je je meteen thuis voelt!
Je kan samen zitten maar ook voor je eigen tent heerlijk je maaltijd koken! Ze doen er veel aan om het je naar de zin te maken!

Likte Loved the scenery, the area, the people and the staff. Honestly couldn't say a bad word about it. Such a serenity and friendliness about the site that I can't recommend it enough. They accommodate for all kinds of campers, and there's a lot to do on-site and a short drive away, you'll never be short of something to do. It's genuinely one of the best campsites on the east coast of Ireland. Had a wonderful time there with my friends and I have to say we'll be back again and we look forward to it! :)

Likte ikke There is a fair few bugs just due to the proximity to the streams, but as long as you have some bug spray they aren't an issue at all. Not really a complaint, just a heads up.

Likte We loved this place,fine big space for our camper felt like wild camping,with a central hub, Bernard the owner,a true gent and his manager Joe, always there to help, honesty wondered did they sleep at all as they were always there, helping or taking to someone, nothing was a problem for them , whether I wanted my small fridge charged or water for my camper, no bother ,wold definitely visit again.

• The Campsite Manager, Joe, was so friendly and welcoming.

• The owners and staff treat everyone like family.

• The history of the lake involves the fascinating tale of William Crotty, the Irish Robin Hood, which Joe was very knowledgeable about.

• Stunning wildlife: we saw a fox, hedgehog, butterflies, dragonflies and a little rabbit.

• The communal area includes an honesty shop with hot water for tea and coffee as well as snacks, a sink and a fridge.

• There was a lovely couple (Felix and Jasmine) serving proper coffee with an espresso machine at great value.

• There's a barbecue at the communal area, which people were allowed to use and the staff also provided a beautiful barbecue spread for everyone staying at the site one of the nights we stayed.

• The tranquil sound of the stream along the hike up to the lake.

• Wild outdoor shower.

• There is a unisex toilet available (and the owners were even kind enough to open up the bathroom in their own home when it was particularly busy).

• Dog-friendly.
