Likte Lovely and friendly host (Val), loads of space, toilet and shower facilities were basic but clean and well kept, lots of walks roundabout, excellent value for money and dog friendly.

Likte ikke Not the campsite's fault but was hard to get a meal in the village for Mon/Tues, so car required to travel further afield for food. Worth bearing in mind.

Likte Lovely quiet peaceful site. Val is lovely and very accomodating even when we turned up a week early!! Shower and toilet block basic but clean. Village is within walking distance (different routes you can do).
Will definitely be back.

Likte Fantastic stay. The field was so spacious, my little girl absolutely loved running around and playing football. The owner, Val, was lovely and would come check everything was okay and have a nice chat. The amenities were clean. Everyone we spoke to who was staying there was really friendly as well so the site obviously attracts the right kind of people. Horses right next to the field were lovely to watch. Stars at night were so bright as well thanks to the location. Really great stay, we can't wait to go back again!

Likte Warm welcome from the owner, who showed me to my pitch. Clean toilets. Bins, drinking water and toilet disposal all easily available. Community shop in nearby village.

Likte The field was flat and electric hookups were available all over. The toilet and shower block were great.

Val was very nice and advised us on walks and what buses to get into town.

Likte We have stayed at Fox Covert once before and were happy. Val comes around in the morning to greet you. The first time we booked, we handed over the money and didn’t get any change (£3.50 short). However, we thought, whatever!

We always try campsites twice before featuring them on our social media travel pages. So, we completed our second booking to review the site, keeping in mind the previous short change. Our personal assistant books our stays, and with this second booking she must not have booked both dogs.

We booked two nights, Friday until Sunday. Upon arriving, the remaining balance to pay was £42.50. We handed over £45 and told Val to keep the £2.50 change. On Saturday morning, Val came around saying, “Morning… you’re a naughty girl,” and explained that I hadn’t booked the extra dog (we had two in total). She added that other campsites would have “told me off,” but it was fine. My partner then offered her the additional £4, which she took.

We just felt very shocked, to be honest. Obviously, it’s our responsibility to book the dogs, but we felt this was greedy. We also mentioned we were going for a walk, and Val advised she had a leaflet with local walking routes, which we were happy to take a look at.

We decided to come home one night earlier. The weather was bad with rain, but we also felt uncomfortable after the fact she didn’t give us change the first time, then on the second stay we told her to keep the money, yet she still came around the next day wanting more — and was happy to take it.

Val is friendly in conversation. There is a lot of space for tents and vans, giving people room to do their own thing. There is one singular toilet, and one block with two toilets. One shower block has just one working hot shower. The electric hook-up where we were situated was on very uneven ground, but as there were only four of us on site, we probably would have moved somewhere more level if we’d stayed the full time and the weather had been better.

The campsite and facilities are kept clean and maintained. The site is on a busy bend, and you regularly hear cars and motorbikes flying past. There are also horses in the field, so if you have a reactive dog, bear this in mind. On our first stay, we did hear gunshot-like noises every so often, which scared the dog, but we didn’t hear anything the second time — perhaps due to the heavy rain.

As mentioned, we always like to try places twice before making a judgment.

I would recommend, but reactive dogs or young children — bear the above in mind. And please bring the exact money with you!
