Now this is a nifty spot for your rural Aveyron holidays – Le Hameau des Genêts is on the edge of the village of Montlaur in the Grands Causses Regional Natural Park, so you’ll be completely surrounded by gorgeous scenery but you’ll also be able to walk to a shop, café or restaurant in about 10 minutes.
The lodges here are tucked away within lush woodlands at a peaceful pedestrianised park, and they’ve also been nicely designed to provide plenty of useful amenities for guests. Each lodge is self contained with its own bathroom and well-equipped kitchen. There’s space to relax in comfort on your deck area, and there’s also heating provided for times when you need to cosy up inside.
With all that sorted for you at your lodge, you'll have plenty of time to dedicate to the fun facilities on site. Around the ‘hamlet’ are a tennis court, a pétanque court and a football pitch as well as a pool area with a paddling pool and a main pool with retractable cover for indoor or outdoor swimming depending on the weather. The mini farm is another popular feature, with lots of friendly animals for the kids to meet.
Having your own kitchen means that catering should be straightforward, but you won't have to do the cooking all the time – you may like to skip it on Friday or Saturday, when pizzas are available to buy, or on Wednesdays when guests join together for a sociable regional meal (July and August only). During the summer there’s also a programme of activities including crafts and games for kids and cheese tastings for the grownups.

- Op deze camping zijn hondenrassen/kruisingen die in de 'lijst met hoog-risico honden op agressief gedrag' zijn opgenomen, niet toegestaan (zoals de pitbullterriër, tosa, Argentijnse dog en fila brasileiro). Ook de volgende rassen zijn niet welkom: de staffordshire-bulterriër, Amerikaanse staffordshireterriër, rottweiler en mastiff.
- De receptie is onbemand na 19:00. Verwacht je na dit tijdstip aan te komen, breng het park dan hiervan op de hoogte, zodat het team je informatie kan geven over jouw accommodatie.
- Minderjarigen (18-) dienen te worden vergezeld door een ouder en/of officiële voogd.
- Geen elektrische barbecues toegestaan.
- Als je vuur wilt maken, dien je de brandstof, houtblokken en kolen daarvoor ter plaatse te kopen.
- Geen gasbarbecues toegestaan.
- Het binnenzwembad is geopend tussen 15/04 en 30/09.
- Het buitenzwembad is geopend tussen 15/06 en 30/09 (afhankelijk van de weersomstandigheden).

Lokale bezienswaardigheden
There are several ways to get out and explore the local countryside from here – there are pony rides and horse rides for all ages and abilities from Les Poneys De Patchanka (five minutes’ drive) or you may like to pedal along at Vélorail et train touristique du Larzac (50 minutes).
If you like your outings to bring a bit more adrenaline, sign up for canyoning, rafting, via ferrata climbing and other adventures at Roc Et Canyon (45 minutes). You can also opt to speed round the track at Karting Plus (15 minutes) if you prefer.
Dialling the pace down a bit might involve peaceful strolls around places like Montaigut Castle (10 minutes) and the Museum des Arts Buissonniers (25 minutes) or a tasty tour of the cheese cellars in Roquefort-sur-Soulzon (half an hour).
Another big attraction (literally…) is the Millau Viaduct (40 minutes), the world’s tallest bridge until 2025. At the other end of the spectrum, there are tiny beasts to admire at Micropolis Cité des Insectes (55 minutes).
