Camping Lou Pignada

Keeping a weather eye out for hols to entertain the whole family? Set sail for Camping Lou Pignada, a family-friendly site on Landes’ Côte d’Argent coast, less than five minutes’ drive from the small Aquitaine town of Messanges. This is the best of Landes – about 10 minutes from a beach, but also among towering trees in a pine grove, the site is a good fit for landlubbers and deckhands. The latter should head straight to the beach for surfing and bodyboarding, while the former turn sights inland to explore woodlands (and try to spy some dinosaurs) or set out for a lengthy pedal along the long-distance coastal Vélodyssee, which passes about 100 metres from the site’s entrance. Sticking around site is a simple must too: adventurous swimmers can dive in and out of two heated outdoor pools and a heated indoor pal, and (at weekends) whizz down three different waterslides, while those after a more soothing experience can unwind in the spa, hot tub or (during high season) one of the two saunas. There’s a kids’ club too to keep little tykes busy during the day, as well as table tennis, pétanque and a miniature farm (don’t let anyone dare say they’re bored). There’s a restaurant on site to fuel bodies for all that running around and a shared barbecue for self-catering days, as well as a souvenir shop that’s handy for last-minute mementos.
