Camping Nika

Take a stroll around the historic city of Shkodër (40 minutes’ drive), stopping to admire the tall minarets of the Xhamia e Madhe - Ebu Bekr mosque and the domes of the Orthodox church of the Nativity of Christ. There are interesting exhibitions at ‘Marubi’ National Museum of Photography, on Kolë Idromeno street, which is lined with cafés and restaurants. On the outskirts of Shkodër, the ruins of Rozafa Castle (40 minutes) sit atop a forbidding hill at the confluence of the rivers Buna and Drin. While the current structure was built by the Venetians around the 1400s, some parts of the fortress date as far back as the 4th century BC. Step across the border into Montenegro to visit the Ethno Museum Draginë (50 minutes), whose displays illustrate the daily life and folkloric customs of the people of the Ana Malit region (which encompasses both northwestern Albania and south Montenegro).
