Point your compass towards the Derbyshire Dales and scoop up an adults-only stay at Offcote Grange, a well-kept family farm a couple of miles outside of the market town of Ashbourne. Tempted by the prospect of sleeping in the grounds of a 17th-century farmhouse? For those looking for grownup holidays, there's the added bonus that there'll be no noisy kids scurrying around site. Mild mischief is laid on (quietly and at a safe distance) by Offcote Grange's cheeky donkeys, who cavort through neighbouring paddocks as the farm's herd of cattle looks on. (Please note that the site is unable to accept dogs because of the livestock on site.) These lush green Derbyshire fields and ancient trees are kept in admirably good nick. While animals graze gracefully in their field, owners Pat and Chris tend to the lawns and large gardens. This tourer-friendly spot has a gated hard driveway for easy arrivals and departures, with facilities housed in a purpose-built block that has three sinks, toilets (including a cubicle with a higher seat, hand rails and an alarm) and a shower. Several water taps and a waste disposal point are also on hand, and if you need to dispose of waste, ask the owners. Stepping out to tour the surrounding Henmoor Valley could hardly be simpler, as there's a well-trodden footpath that passes right by the front of the farm. It's possible to traipse through the fields down to Ashbourne, but if you're planning on loading up on treats at the deli and other specialist food shops, you might want to clear the car boot and drive the 10 minutes into town instead.

Rustige camping voor volwassenen met prachtig platteland. Gastvrije hosts, vlekkeloze, moderne faciliteiten. Genoten van de rust, tuinen en nabijheid van Ashbourne. Nadelen: levelling blocks nodig, geen overdekte afwas met warm water, beperkte bewegwijzering. Warmwaterafwas wordt aangepakt.

Ik was blij met Very welcoming hosts, lovely rural setting with some fabulous countryside views. Very modern toilet/shower facilities done to a high standard.
Adult only pitches so we had a quiet, peaceful stay in some very pleasant surroundings.
A 30-40 min walk to Ashbourne Town centre, and we cycled to Carsington for a day round the reservoir too.
Will definitely book again, many thanks.

Ik was blij met A really tranquil site. No dogs (except the owners little Harrison) and adult only. The site is fairly flat but take your chocks just in case. Pat and Chris are a really friendly, down to earth couple and made us feel very welcome. Facilities were really clean and for the size of the site, 2 toilets and an en suite shower are just enough. Had great weather and saw some birds that you wouldnt normally spot. Its got beautiful gardens too and it was delightful to see a family of ducks and ducklings walking around the pond. Would recommend as we'll definitely be returning.

Ik was blij met Great site! Went on a Friday for the evening, had a lovely atmosphere with a bar and pizza van open. Facilities are great, has everything you need with lots of loos, showers, shared kitchen, coffee machine.

Lovely views and walks nearby. Will definitely be back again!

Ik was blij met Lovely site, grounds and facilities. Owners were very nice, helpful and welcoming. The lake and gardens are so well kept. The facilities clean and modern. Site was so nice in the sunshine and a lovely walk into Ashbourne. The night time was so quiet for a good night's sleep. Would definitely stay again.

Ik was blij met Stunning location, set in beautiful grounds. Large grass pitches. Pat & Chris are very friendly and welcoming owners. The toilet block was immaculate, and one of the nicest we’ve used! Footpaths on the doorstep, and one directly to Ashbourne. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back!

Ik was niet blij met Nothing to dislike.

There are three access roads to the site, but two of them are single-track roads and are not suitable for large vehicles. Therefore, the site recommends you always set your Satnav and other devices for Ashbourne first, and then reset the location to Offcote Grange (DE6 1JQ) to use the best road. At the top of a hill, there is a sign for Offcote Grange and Billy's Bothy on your right. Drive straight past this sign. At the end of the hedgerow, there is a gate on the right. There are two large signs pointing you down the drive.

It's a doddle to get from this well-located site to loads of nearby locales of note, whether you're keen to potter around Ashbourne's antiques shops, stride through the Derbyshire Dales or go boating on nearby Carsington Water (all 10 minutes' drive). Holidaymakers of an outdoorsy disposition are also a 10-minute drive from the edge of the Peak District National Park, a playground for walkers, pedallers and horsey folk. If you have a soft spot for stately homes, the surrounding Derbyshire countryside is also where to find cool country piles like Norbury Hall (20 minutes), Kedleston Hall (30 minutes) and Chatsworth House (45 minutes). Just because there are no kids about to egg you on, it doesn't mean you can't take advantage of this spot's proximity to Alton Towers (25 minutes) to zoom around on coasters of an afternoon. Go Ape Buxton (30 minutes) is also within reach if you have a head for heights but don't fancy queuing up to get your adrenaline fix.
