Mi è piaciuto Emma was friendly and welcoming on our arrival, and gave us a very nice pitch which thankfully had some afternoon shade which was very welcome during our heatwave summer. The campsite was neat and tidy, and the old barn is lovely and a nice place to hang out if the weather isn't great. Toilets there and in the main block were cleaned regularly.
Being near the airport there were some small planes flying over from time to time, but we enjoyed watching them go by.
The location is very convenient. There is a big Morrisons and an Aldi within 5 minutes drive, and the longest journey we had during our whole stay was 45 minutes across to the Needles. It's a perfect base for exploring the island, and a relaxing spot to chill out in at the end of the day.
Non mi è piaciuto The ablution facilities are quite old, but the showers are hot and have good water pressure, and everything was clean. Also 20p no longer needed! Yay!
Our pitch was a little tight, and we only had a small marquee and a 3-man tent. But we did specifically ask for some shade, and we were grateful that we had that over over some of the other bigger pitches which were in full sun.

Mi è piaciuto My partner and I stayed at Hafod Hall over the bank holiday weekend. We were specifically looking for wild or semi-wild camping with allowance for campfires, and in this respect Hafod was exactly what we were looking for. Although they do offer more regular-type camping in a field at the bottom of the property, we particularly loved their wild open top field, with loads of space to pitch anywhere and lots of privacy given by trees and patches of long grass. It really was sublime.
When we arrived we were greeted warmly by Sam who helped us park up and showed us around. He and the other staff there were all exceptionally friendly and helpful, and we really felt completely welcome there throughout our stay. Thanks guys!
We pitched near the top of the field under a wonderfully characterful tree, and had lovely views both down into the valley and up onto the hill behind. We did encounter some midges, but our campfire kept them at bay. Even though the campsite was extremely busy - being the August bank holiday - we were still remained remote and could barely see any other campers from our location. In fact the top field could easily have handled quite a few more campers while still offering good isolation.
The campsite is well located for easy day trips into Snowdonia national park. Snowdon itself is just over half an hour's drive away, and there are plenty of other local attractions within easy reach. There is also plenty of walking to do from the campsite itself, including down to a lake a bit further down the valley.
We absolutely loved our time at Hafod and would definitely come back again!
Non mi è piaciuto We only have a few small pieces of constructive criticism to share, although none of these would stop us from recommending Hafod Hall or staying there again. Firstly, the water point was a little ramshackle and consisted of a tap attached sideways to a loose bit of plastic piping. This made it quite difficult to fill up large containers of water and resulted in a lot of wastage as the water just kind of went everywhere when the tap was turned on. It would be great if there was a sink with a properly attached tap for filling up.
The other point was that the dogs outside the house were barking late into the night which did somewhat spoil the lovely peace and quiet of the campsite. Again, not a major issue really, but one of the brilliant things about Hafod is it's beautiful remote countryside location, so noise is somewhat more noticeable as a result!
