Midshires Way Campsite and Alpaca Farm

Mi è piaciuto The pitches and general paths and gardens are all very well maintained. The site is easy to locate and is in an ideal location near East Leake, which can be used for pubs, shops etc.

Non mi è piaciuto The staff were unhelpful, before and during our arrival. We had contacted to say we'd be arriving later and whether that would be ok, the answer was very unclear. When we did arrive, the reception was closed which is ok, but we had no idea where to go or which pitch we were. The staff were very rude on the phone and seemed very eager to get us off of the phone. The toilet blocks are nice and private, but there is only a mop left for users to clean afterwards, which resulted in some very dirty showers. I think it should be very clear also that this site is directly under the landing path for East Midlands Airport, making it very loud all night.

Mi è piaciuto Nice size pitches kept tidy and grass areas nice, washing machine and dryer available, clean pot wash area, shower room and toilet area tidy

Non mi è piaciuto We were there from Tuesday through to Friday, during that time showers/ toilets not cleaned at all, stains in toilet still there when we left, dead spider still on shower surround, floor dirty not washes at all during time there and bins left unemptied.

Mi è piaciuto Adults only, nice spacious serviced pitches, toilets and showers spot on and clean, great for walks and some nice pubs in East Leake. Overall great place to stay 👍🏼

Mi è piaciuto We had a fantastic stay from start to finish. The site was beautifully maintained and exceptionally clean—we genuinely couldn’t fault a thing. It’s a wonderfully peaceful setting, perfect for switching off and relaxing, with the added bonus of watching the horses putting on a show in the fields.

There’s a lovely walk into the village, along with plenty of public footpaths nearby to explore, making it ideal for getting out on foot or by bike and enjoying the countryside at your own pace. The facilities were spotless throughout and clearly very well looked after, which made a real difference to our stay.

The staff at the Nags Head pub were amazing—friendly, welcoming, and a great addition to the overall experience. We wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend it to others looking for a peaceful getaway.

As for the planes, we honestly don’t understand the negative comments. We found it lovely to watch them coming in to land, and it was completely quiet at night. If noise is a concern, it’s worth checking the location before booking—but for us, it didn’t detract from the experience at all.

Non mi è piaciuto Honestly, nothing about the site itself. The only minor issue was some particularly lively neighbours celebrating their new campervan and inviting friends onto the campsite to see it. However, the owner handled it quickly and things settled down, which we really appreciated. It’s worth mentioning this wasn’t a fault of the site at all, just one of those things—and it didn’t take away from an otherwise excellent stay.

Mi è piaciuto Spacious and clearly-marked pitches, good facilities, easy checkin process. Good base for surrounding areas, although wouldn't stay for just the site itself.

Non mi è piaciuto Noise at night from planes and dogs barking (the dogs seemed to be somewhere local to the campsite and not on the site, so possibly something they can't control)

Mi è piaciuto Large pitch, beautiful bathrooms, very clean and tidy, flat 1.2 miles to the village, nags head only does drinks, The bulls head does nice meals, occasionally planes on flight landing path above head for East Midlands

Mi è piaciuto I had a warm welcome upon arrival and was very quickly checked in. I stayed on pitch 9. Very large space and very neat and tidy. A small walk over to the toilet, shower, pot wash and laundry facilities - all very clean and tidy. Very peaceful stay and enjoyed the fireworks as I was staying on the 5th. Checked out but prior to that asked if I could walk the dog around prior to leaving and the lady was lovely. 10/10 stay will stay again if ever in the area. Felt very safe as a female solo traveller also due to no visitors which I liked. Highly recommend.

Mi è piaciuto Location as it was close to family but that’s all. Facilities were good.

Non mi è piaciuto There are only 2 toilets and 2 showers (together like en suite): this is not enough for a site that could have over 20 adults. Plus people in the pods if they choose to use the facilities too.
Also, something that should be advertised is that the site is directly on the flight path for East Midlands Airport: flights all day and into the early hours and then again from 5am…no sleep to be had at all!
Someone was driving onto the site at 4am: maybe to feed the horses or sort out the llamas.
