If you like simple pleasures, I'd definitely recommend staying here.

2026. aug.

Kedvelték I stayed at Brayshaw View Campsite for two nights with my teenage son. He wanted to climb Gordale Scar so I looked for a quiet campsite that was relatively close, and which promised great views. We were not disappointed! The campsite was quiet, peaceful and pretty much perfect. We don't like being around hordes of people and we have very basic needs, so really didn't want to be in a massively commercial place. The site was flat, with plenty of space and the toilets and washing facilities were clean and easily accessible. The bell tents looked nice but we didn't stay in one so I can't really comment on what they were like inside. There are some lovely walks around the campsite and we went for a wander on day one after pitching up. On day two we had a scenic drive to Malham for our hike, and then back again to peace and tranquility. The only sounds we could hear were from the local wildlife, which was really comforting.

Nem kedvelték I can't think of any negatives about Brayshaw View Campsite and I would love to return one day.

Best introduction to camping

2018. márc.

Kedvelték [Please note I've provided an overall review and have not divided my comments into likes and dislikes, for ease of writing. Also, we stayed in March 2017 not 2018 but there was no option to choose that month!] Irongorge Camping was the first site we stayed at as a family, and it was such an amazing experience. We were in the middle of moving house and needed to get away from the stress and chaos, so we borrowed a friend’s tent and jumped in the car. We were totally unprepared – no sleeping bags (we took duvets) for example – and it was a bit chilly with it being at the beginning of March but it didn’t matter at all. As it was so early in the season, the campsite was really quiet. We got there early Saturday afternoon and chose to pitch right in the centre of the field, with the BEST view. You can’t park on the field, but the owners provide trolleys that you can load up and then wheel to your tent, which the kids loved. There is also a cute little play area, so they were kept entertained while we tried to work out how to put up the tent. There are fantastic fire pits that you can hire, which have been made out of old washing machine drums. There are also picnic tables and a newly-built toilet/shower block close by. As it was March, it got dark pretty early and the kids loved the magic of the campfire and walking across the field with torches. We had a BBQ under an umbrella as it was drizzling a bit, and then settled down for the night. We could hear owls and farm animals and had a little visitor in the night (I think it was a cat!) and it was an amazing experience for all. There is nothing like spending a night under the stars to show children how awesome nature is. We banned all technology for the weekend too, which was an added bonus! The next day we packed up leisurely and headed into nearby Ironbridge to spend the day in this lovely town. There is so much to do there, and as well as the walks that are really easily accessible from the site, Irongorge Camping is definitely somewhere you could happily spend a few days.

Perfect in any weather ;)

2017. okt.

Kedvelték [Please note I've provided an overall review and have not divided my comments into likes and dislikes, for ease of writing] Our October half-term camping trip to North Wales coincided with the tail end of Storm Brian. We’d chosen to stay at Llwyn Ffynnon campsite because of its ideal location for visiting nearby attractions, backed up by the excellent reviews it had received. We weren’t disappointed. The owner, Chris, made a great first impression by giving us a courtesy call while we were on our way there, and he greeted us on arrival, showing us all the facilities. As the recent weather had been pretty awful, the site was very muddy and apparently a lot of campers had cancelled their stay. But we found the driest and most level spot – right in the middle of the first field, surrounded by caravans – and set up the tent. The first two nights were so stormy, to the point where at one point we could feel the tent being lifted off the ground slightly by the wind. But it all added to the excitement for the kids and we soon came to ignore the mud and the rain. From day three the weather brightened up anyway. We actually spent very little time at the campsite during the day as we were off visiting places every day, but the facilities were really clean and Chris was always on hand to offer help, advice or information. The best thing about Llwyn Ffynnon is its location. When we first got there, we couldn’t truly appreciate the surroundings because of the weather. But when the clouds and fog moved on, it was breathtaking. We were only a short drive away from Caernarfon, where we explored the castle, went crabbing, and had an amazing meal at the popular Black Boy Inn. We also got up at the crack of dawn one day and drove to Snowdon – successfully climbing it as a family, which was a great experience for all (I’m still so proud of the kids for doing it with hardly any complaining as they are only aged 5 and 8!). A third day was spent visiting the National Slate Museum, which was really interesting (and free!). I would definitely recommend staying at Llwyn Ffynnon if you’re visiting North Wales. The facilities are fantastic, Chris and his family are super friendly, the location is perfect and the surroundings are beautiful. What more could you want from a family camping trip?!

Really busy site & facilities could be improved, but views are lovely

2018. jún.

Kedvelték [Please note I've provided an overall review and have not divided my comments into likes and dislikes, for ease of writing] We stayed at Middlehills Farm Campsite on the last weekend of the May half-term holiday. If you like busy campsites then this is absolutely the place for you! We are used to more tranquil and relaxed places however, so even though it is a lovely site with amazing views, we won’t be returning. I made our reservation a couple of weeks before we stayed, and the booking process was very easy. When we arrived at the site, I went to the reception and was greeted by someone very friendly, but not overly helpful. I was simply told to pitch up anywhere I liked on either field – I got the impression he was in a hurry to be somewhere else. I wasn’t told about any of the facilities available, which irked me slightly as at all the other campsites we’ve stayed at, the owners have gone out of their way to be welcoming and show us around. Both fields for campers who don’t want a hook-up were very busy, but we found a spot that didn’t have too much of a gradient. The ground was in good condition and it was easy to pitch up. There was a lovely atmosphere as there were so many families staying, and the playground on site was a huge plus for us as it meant we could put the tent up while the kids entertained themselves quite happily. I had mixed feelings about the facilities. When I eventually worked out where everything was, I was surprised to find there was only one drinking water tap serving the whole site (according to other campers). Considering there must have been 100+ tents/motorhomes there that weekend, I’d expected some other taps to be available so people didn’t have to lug water containers around so far. Having said that, there was rarely a long queue for water, which was good. Pot washing facilities for the back field were pretty bad! The push-style taps stay on for about three seconds and the water was scalding hot; the sinks were not a great design for when it got busy either. The showers, too, were a disappointment. You have to pay to use them (20p a minute or £1 for five mins) but the coin machine is outside the cubicle, so you have no idea how long you’ve got left until the water suddenly stops! Also, the shower I had on my second morning was actually salt water, which was a horrible experience as I wasn’t expecting it. I was very glad my young daughter hadn’t had one with me as she’d have been screaming from the salt stinging her eyes etc! After about three minutes it ran clear with fresh water, so I have no idea what was going on there. Having said the above, the showers/toilets were quite clean and there were plenty of hooks to hang your stuff on to keep it off the floor. There is a shop on site, which has limited opening hours. We chose to drive off-site for supplies instead, but it was good to know there was a back-up if needed. Also, there are fridge and freezer facilities at Middlehills, which were very useful. The site operates a minimum noise policy after 10.30pm, which everyone seemed to stick to. It was very peaceful and quiet, with the only noise at night coming from the nearby quarry – this was more like a constant hum though than anything too intrusive. Overall, this is a truly lovely site. It’s well-kept, has a lovely atmosphere, and its facilities are clean. Personally, it’s not for us, and I was very conscious that it was a business above everything else. There’s nothing wrong with that of course, but it doesn’t gel well with the easy-going, stress-free vibe that I associate with camping.

Kezelői megjegyzés: Thank you for your review. I would just like to clarify that you are so very wrong to say that it is business above everything else ! We pride ourselves on being a family friendly site, where we want campers to feel happy and enjoy their stay with ourselves and we always put their needs first and its something we all work very hard to achieve. We have many people return time after time because it is easy going and a stress free vibe so not sure why you didn't get that ? You did pick one of the busiest weekends of the year to come camping so surely you must have expected it to be busy ? With regards to the drinking water taps, there are 4 around the site and I find it a shame that before you write negative comments please come to reception or the shop to ask where we all would have gladly told you. Unfortunately we have to have the push button taps otherwise the water gets overused and taps get left running so it is to save on water. The shop was open from 8am through to 9pm and closed for 2 hours in between to allow Dawn and Simon a break so i wouldn't say that was limited hours ? I find it a shame that you didn't enjoy aspects of your trip with us but wish you well on your journey to find the perfect site.
