Kedvelték Lovely owners met us on arrival, and made a point on checking everything had been ok before we left. Great small sitewith lovely local walks and a great pub a mile away. Facilities have improved since our last visit with an extra shower room and washing up station, all very clean and well maintained.

Nem kedvelték Occasional train whizzing by, but fast enough not to bother us too much.

Kedvelték Spacious, level pitches. Lovely quiet site. Even though the railway was close, it didn’t bother us. Pub a nice 15 min stroll away, and walks galore direct from the site. Toilets and shower spotless and toasty warm. Staff/owners were very friendly.

Nem kedvelték Although lovely, only one shower would be an issue at the height of the season.

Kedvelték Remote location No light/noise pollution Fantastic scenery Back to basics camping

Nem kedvelték No potable water Would have liked to know that we could fish/kayak on the lake in November. Basic doesn’t have to mean uncomfortable…showers were a little open to the elements.

Kedvelték Level pitches, close to beach

Nem kedvelték Too few showers, not enough toilet cubicles for men. Need to get rid of the two urinals and change them to cubicle so that there are 4.

Kedvelték More than enough showers/toilets even though it’s a very big site, and were always spotless and well maintained. Cleanliness and attentive staff.

Kezelői megjegyzés: Many thanks for your very kind review comments and recommendation. We are glad you think it is a 1st class site. Hope you visit again in the future.

Kedvelték Site was remote and peaceful

Nem kedvelték Informed on arrival that the site manager had left the day before, so it was a bit haphazard. Told to find any pitch that I wanted!..resulting in vans/campers/tents plonked anywhere. The site was unkempt and lacked any sort of pride. The gents showers were just about passable, but far too hot with no control. Out of the 3 sinks, one tap didn’t work and one barely produced any hot water, so one decent sink. The bins were overflowing when we arrived on the Friday, so by departure on Sunday, there was rubbish piling up. I’m sure that this is normally a lovely site, but not at present!

Kedvelték Mandy was very helpful on arrival, explaining everything. Phil was more than happy to impart his knowledge of the fishing, which made for a great head start. Toilet/shower block was very warm and comfortable, albeit that a plumber was in the process of fitting new sinks, which was hardly an inconvenience. Fishing was good, with good size bream & roach, but I failed to tempt my favourite tench! Would definitely recommend. Mark

Nem kedvelték Water points were few and far between, but Mandy did advise me to fill up at the entrance, which was helpful. Bin store could have been closer, and a recycling bin wouldn’t go amiss. Grey water drain wasn’t equipped for motorhome drive over. These are only minor constructive points.

Kezelői megjegyzés: We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Lyons Gate. The bins are not near the pitches as you can imagine on warmer days everyone would be pestered by flies. We look forward to seeing you again and hopefully the Tench will be more forthcoming.

Kedvelték Good facilities, nice hot showers. Lovely peaceful site with lots of different options for a stay.

Nem kedvelték No drive over drain for grey water disposal, so impossible to empty a motorhome. Wouldn’t take much to install one to connect to the drain beside it. Also, extra showers were not open to cope with the half term influx on the Friday night.

Kedvelték Cleanliness & friendliness of staff. The facilities were immaculate, and I doubt if I’ll stay at a better maintained site.
