Nip to the watersports centre five minutes’ walk away for kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, jetpacks and giggles galore on banana boats or towed rubber rings. Boat hire, snorkelling and scuba diving trips are a little further beyond in Sausset-les-Pins, and away from the coast but still splashingly good fun is Speedwater Park, a waterpark half an hour away. You could also take in a bit of the GR 51 hiking trail following the coastline nearby, or head over to Camargue Regional Nature Park to wander through the salt marshes or take a paddle steamer trip on the Rhône and look out for flamingoes and herons. Several riding centres also offer half-day treks on the region’s famed native horses. Other family-friendly days out nearby include Magic Parkland amusement park (20 minutes’ drive), the treetop courses at Indian Forest (45 minutes) and the cowboy-themed amusement park OK Corral (an hour away). Berben Zoo is around 50 minutes away. For a bit of city wandering, the port of Marseille is about 40 minutes' drive, with gleaming white Notre-Dame basilica, exhibits on 21st-century life at Mucem museum and a handsome historic centre. The splendid centre of Aix-en-Provence, 45 minutes away, is also worth a visit.
