A little piece of paradise on the Corsica coastline… that’s the promise at the aptly named Corsica Paradise at Camping Lacasa, a chilled-out site 10 minutes’ drive from the little town of Calcatoggio.
It’s fairly easy to see why the folk here have selected the site’s chosen name… particularly if you start your stay at the open-air swimming pool: an infinity pool with heated waters, a water play area and scenic sea views to stare at from the sun terrace. Might a cool beer or little glass of vino complete the picture? Pick them up from the site’s bar, stopping by at the site shop for snacks too if you fancy.
Although that sea view is very fine, it’s likely that sooner or later you’ll want a closer look: head out of the site and it’s a pleasant 10-minute walk (along a shaded private footpath) to the sandy Liscia beach. There are seafront restaurants down there if you want to stick around for dinner; the site’s also got a restaurant if you’d rather make it a very short post-prandial stroll.
Paradise means different things to different folk, of course… some will be chuffed at the idea of simply strolling from pool to beach and back, while others will want to pack in plenty of activity out in the open air. The latter type can fill time on site with games of pétanque, beach volleyball and mini football, or sign up for assorted activities on summer days and evenings. Or they can venture into the wider world instead for bike rides, scuba diving, canyoning, wine tasting, boat trips…

Helyi látnivalók
Corsica’s capital Ajaccio is a 40-minute drive away, and well worth the trip (even if you’re not immediately heading for a ferry or a plane). Napoleon hailed from here, and you can follow in his footsteps by taking a wander around his birthplace, visiting the Fesch museum (named after his uncle) and survey the family furniture in the town hall.
For a taste of village life, the folk on site suggest starting out in Calcatoggio (10 minutes’ drive) for picnic supplies, before heading up into the hills to the abandoned village of Muna (50 minutes) and the Casa di U Mele honey farm. Waterlilly-filled Lac de Creno (an hour) makes a lovely lunch stop in the mountains.
Active sorts can sign up for scuba diving by Liscia beach or head to the mountains for horse riding from Coggia (15 minutes) or rafting and canyoning trips from Vico (half an hour). Rather more leisurely will be a day spent shuttling between the cluster of wineries around Ajaccio to select a bottle for later sipping on your terrace.
