N'a pas aimé : We stayed out of season in march so the conditions meant we were on the ‘area advertised as ‘overflow hard standing’ , (fair enough) however this was actually the driveway of the owners house so not ideal at all. There was several chickens on the driveway so chicken poop everywhere outside our van & around the shower/toilet /washup area. Not ideal to walk through.
The chemical waste was situated pretty much right on top of the showers & wash up area .
The showers were outdated , filthy & full of spiders cobwebs and insects. The toilets also outdated & dirty with some of the toilet seats cracked and very weak flush. No mirrors also .
There was still signage for covid rules & social distancing ?? Is this when it was last open?
It felt like the place had been shut for several months and they had just let us stay before the facilities had been prepared - but it is going to take a hell of clean up if thats the case.
The washing up sink was dirty with 2 filthy bowls on the floor covered in dirt . Hot water to wash up ran out quickly .
The drinking water hose was over belfast sink full of mud.
There is a difference between a ‘basic rustic ‘campsite and plain just run down ,tired & dirty.
It cost us £39 to park on the owners driveway in our van for one night for something that was more like a £10 a night Aire stop. If the place wasn't ready to accept guests then we should have been told.

Facilities were clean and well maintained. Pitches large and we loved the location of ours. This is definitely one for you if you like peace and quiet. By about 10pm it was almost totally silent. Added bonus for kids there are chickens, goats and a Shetland pony wandering around during the day which was fun.
We were intrigued by the dark sky promises on the website and it totally delivered on that. We had one lovely clear night and the stargazing was great. Very low light pollution. We enjoyed hitting the local footpaths and exploring nearby. It is also very easy to get to Hastings, Rye, Herstmonceux, Camber Sands etc so spoiled for things to do. Very impressed all around.N'a pas aimé : Not suitable if you wish to camp with friends as groups clearly discouraged in all booking information and in website. A little bit of a shame as would love to share the experience with friends. However, fully understand why large, noisy groups would be wholly unsuitable for a site of this size.

Your booking was made very last minute, just as we had returned from travelling and before we’d had time to prepare the site for visitors after heavy rain. We did explain this on arrival. As we are the only campsite open in the area at this time of year, we felt we couldn’t reasonably turn you away and did our best to accommodate you in the circumstances.
Because of the time of year and wet ground conditions, our usual pitches were not suitable. This was explained at check‑in and you agreed to use the overflow hard standing nearer to the house. This area is clearly described as overflow and is not presented as a standard pitch, though most guests find it perfectly acceptable (and importantly mud-free!), especially in low season.
We are a small, rustic campsite on a working property, and that is clearly stated in our listing. Our chickens and ducks do sometimes wander through the yard, and most guests enjoy the rural feel and meeting the animals, including our pygmy goats and Shetland pony. We will, however, review our cleaning routines around the facilities and yard.
Our facilities are simple rather than luxurious, but they are cleaned and checked regularly. Describing them as “filthy” and “run down” does not reflect their actual condition nor the experience of the vast majority of our guests, as can be seen from other reviews. If anything specific fell below the usual standard during your stay, we would have welcomed hearing about it at the time so we could have addressed it immediately.
Our pricing is in line with other small sites in the area that offer electric hook‑up and facilities, and we remain open out of season when many others are closed. We’re sorry you did not feel it represented good value, but we believe our charges are fair for what is provided.
We do appreciate feedback and use it to improve. We’re sorry that our rustic, working countryside site and early‑season conditions did not match what you were looking for, and we wish you all the best with your future travels.
