Loved it and will be back!

août 2026

A aimé We loved our stay! Super cosy and romantic too. The bell tent was beautiful, all zipped in to prevent insects as much as possible. Benches and bbq provided, we probably would have used if we had stayed longer. Great to know for another time. View from the tent was gorgeous 😍 very peaceful and relaxing. Extremly comfortable bed! Electric hook up to charge phones was very handy. Easy check in and friendly/warm greeting.

N'a pas aimé Nothing major. Sat nav on google didn't actually find the address, it took me to Homestead farm, maybe add a few directions to listing? Maybe an additional toilet towards the top end of the site. Was a long way to walk when you're desperate for your first wee of the day!

Sadly won't be returning for several reasons.

sept. 2020

A aimé The site itself was set out beautifully. Lots of lovely evergreen bushes and plants, as well as hydrangea plants which were coming to the end of season. It appeared to be well maintained and there were lots of bins and recycling points throughout the park, as well as water points. Those camping or staying in camper vans were well spaced apart. The toilets and showers were extremely clean, and were cleaned regularly throughout the day.

N'a pas aimé On arrival, initially very disappointed in the check in process. When we arrived, a security guard at the gate gave us an envelope with park information, and told us to drive round and park behind the swimming pool, text a number given on the pack with your details and confirm that you did not have any covid symptoms. He then said, we may have to wait until 16.00 or later before we could set up - it was 12.45 at this point. A bit bemused as to why it would take so long for a camping pitch to be available, when check in on our email said anytime from midday - we parked up and sent the text as requested. A hour went by and nothing. We eventually decided to go and time waste at the beach and returned at 16.40. We explained we weren't happy, the weather was detiorating and it was getting darker. He was very apologetic and said he couldn't understand why we hadn't heard anything. When we asked reception and they did not apologise, only expressed that they didn't know what had gone wrong. The pitch itself was sheltered by 2 hedges and was adequate. Although there was a large black oil spill from a vehicle, which was unavoidable, when laying my bathtub groundsheet for the front of my tent. Can't comment on the other facilities on site ad we had other plans for our trip and therefore did not use them. However, I really wanted to use their indoor pool, but their changing rooms remain closed. I did not want to get changed poolside or walk back in poor weather with my towel wrapped around me. We also paid for wifi, which was quite pricey, but it was slow and often dropped out. Our biggest issue was the radio in the toilet block. Unfortunately, it was left on for the first 2 nights - all night, at quite a loud volume, which thumped like a base party. The 3rd night, it was even louder and sounded like a rave. I text the 24hr number to ask if it could be turned down or off, and had no reply. An hour an half later, we rang. Security answered and when we explained, he said he didn't have access to deal with it. Eventually, he agreed to 'try and wake a manager', more than an hour later, someone pulled up and shut the toilet block windows. Which helped but was still thumping loudly. When I got up the next morning, I saw a male cleaner at the shower block, and he apologised profusely, that the music was so loud. He explained that someone else had turned it up unnecessarily. We didn't have any further issue with this after that morning, thankfully. With storm Alex bearing down on Cornwall, we decided that perhaps we should extend our stay, in the hope to find a small break in the weather for the tent to dry and pack away. So I rang the reception to book 2 more nights, only to be told that they could only accomodate us for 1 night not 2....despite having dozens of pitches free! We packed away over lunchtime today, despite paying the extra for another night. Overall, we were both very disappointed in Hendra. The older groundsmen we saw and a cleaner called Mike, were absolutely lovely, well humoured and couldn't do enough for us. The office side of the business, were not very helpful and slow to respond when we needed them. Very disappointing when their reviews have been so good. Sadly, as a result...we won't be returning.

Réponse du gestionnaire : We are very sorry to read that you won't be returning to Hendra. Check-in time for the touring and camping pitches is indeed 12pm; we apologise that the Warden didn't realise that you were staying in a tent, and therefore gave you the wrong information. We are pleased that this was met with an apology by the Warden and 2 of them checked that you were okay. We are sorry that the Reception Team did not apologise; this is unusual, and we have passed this review on to them to improve the service for future guests. We could have moved you from the oil spill if you had asked. We aren't aware of any drain problems, as this hasn't been reported or picked up by our cleaning team, but we will look into it after reading this. We are pleased that you liked the way that the Park was set out and that you found the pitches well-distanced from each other; we have deliberately let out less pitches to allow for full social distancing. We are very sorry about the music; it was turned up in error and it isn't usually on at a high volume. We apologise that it wasn't rectified sooner, and it disturbed your holiday. We should have still had pitches free or have been able to free up something in the Booking Office; it has been busier than usual this autumn on Park and we are trying let less pitches so that we can adhere to social distancing. We appreciate your kind comments about Mike and the Wardens; this will be passed on. All staff, including the Bookings and Reception staff, will always do their upmost to help and accommodate guests. We are sorry that you didn't have this experience and can only apologise. We understand that it is disappointing as the other reviews about the Park and staff are very complimentary; we didn't meet our usual standards this time but through you highlighting these issues we can look to improve for next time. Thank you.

Beautiful site, quiet and fabulous location! We will be back!

août 2019

A aimé Great location, lovely big pitches, we were able to choose our own pitch according to our needs, the site was quiet and peaceful. Owners were lovely and were in the house next to the site to help if needed. Lots of water taps over the site for easy access. Very close for exploring the Lizard and the southern tip of Cornwall. 3 areas to choose from including flat and gradiated areas

N'a pas aimé There needs more showers for this site, 2 wasn't enough and we were always waiting for one. There was also some dust and cobwebs present above the cubicles. The wifi was very touch and go at times.

Réponse du gestionnaire : Thank you for your comments. There are two ladies showers, two men’s showers, a disabled/family room with shower and 50 yards away another shower room with additional toilets. I endeavour to keep the cobwebs away, but it is a never ending battle with the spiders.

We loved this site!

avr. 2019

A aimé Pitches were well maintained, toilets and showers were spotless. The site itself was quiet and had lovely hillside views. We enjoyed watching the sheep grazing and the small shop on site was perfect for handy little things that you might need during your stay. There were a couple of lovely pubs in the village nearby as well. This site had a great location just outside Paignton. It was perfect for our needs, and we were able to get to Paignton, Torquay, Totnes and Dartmouth easily. We took a drive into Cornwall to the Lost Gardens of Heligan near St Austell, which we highly recommend. I think in terms of what there is to offer nearby, we preferred Torquay and Dartmouth, Paignton seafront and town centre is looking tired. Although it has a steam railway to Dartmouth and the zoo. There are plenty of small stores nearby in Paignton along with a Morrisons which was useful. Can't vote on customer service as I didn't meet the owners, but facilities on site were brilliant.

N'a pas aimé Pitches were a mixture of flat and sloped.Toilet and shower block could have been warmer, was quite chilly getting out of the shower!

Lovely level pitches. Great location. Showers need updating

sept. 2018

A aimé We arrived on Saturday afternoon, the owners greeted me, they were very warm and friendly. They had a little out building with leaflets on things to do, including the local indian and chinese - which deliver to your pitch! They also have a small shop on site for essentials and an outbuilding with a washing up basin, a fridge and a microwave to use. The site was nice and clean, pitches were well maintained and lots of hook-ups close by. The location was great, the sat nav brought us straight here with no issues and it was easy to find. Kingsbridge town was a short drive away with a small Morrisons and a small Tesco which was very useful. We seemed to be the only tent pitched here, but I suspect that was due to being late in the season. There were plenty of caravans and motorhomes with fabulous awnings on site. Lots seemed to be long term pitchers. The toilets, sinks and bathrooms floors were always clean, and the showers were amazingly hot! We visited the nearby towns of Totnes, Salcombe and Dartmouth, which were all gorgeous and very quaint with views of the Kingsbridge estuary and the seaside. Plymouth was roughly 40-45 minutes away where we visited the town centre for excellent shopping, the Plymouth Hoe (lighthouse and Army barracks) and the barbican which was a fabulous place on the harbourside for food and drink. We did also drive further afield to the beautiful towns of Looe, Fowey, Mevagissey, and also even further to Newquay and Tintagel which were 1hr 40mins away.

N'a pas aimé Whilst the bathroom floors, sinks and toilets were clean every time I used them...the showers were not. They often had hairs stuck to the walls, and cobwebs. The shower curtains and grouting had black mildew in places which was unpleasant. Whilst they were ridiculously hot, which was much appreciated in the cold mornings, the pressure is very low. They really need updating for modern showers with a better pressure. I couldn't use conditioner, because despite having textured tiles to prevent slips, use of conditioner made them very slippery. I did also find that automatic lights often went off so I ended up showering in the dark! We could only find 1 petrol station in Kingsbridge which was owned by Co-op, so be warned as prices were 4p a litre dearer. Only got fuel once here and made sure we topped up elsewhere before returning to the campsite. Wifi was stalling on our pitch making it unusable but we made use of our 4G instead (O2)

We loved it and we will be back!

sept. 2018

A aimé Brian greeted us on arrival just after midday, he was warm and welcoming, and was happy to show us around. The site is small making it quiet, and cosy. The site itself is very gradiated so be mindful when orientating your tent. This wasn't a problem for us as we probably had the most level pitch. Brian's campsite had everything we needed, the toilet and showers were situated within a gorgeous old out-building to the farm, which had been newly refurbished. The showers were wonderfully hot and the facililties were kept spotless. There was also a large chest freezer and a fridge within the outbuilding, which we were free to use. The area has no mobile signal at all, we are on O2, not that this mattered to me! The site had easy access to the lake, and the dam was a short walk away, along with the cafe and sailing club (sailing, kayaking and paddleboarding offered). On investigation, you can either pay to use their equipment, or you can launch use from the site for a fee. There are some boundaries as to where you can go on the lake for safety reasons, but definately well worth it for the views. There were loads of places to walk, and the views were stunning. Definately a walkers paradise! Of an evening, Brian offered fire pits/baskets for just £2 for the night or £10 for a week, logs and kindling available on site too. On the Saturday night, there was an illegal rave going on across the lake in the forest, and Brian could not apologise enough, even though it wasn't his fault. The Sunday night was lovely and quiet. Lovely clear sky for stargazers, and the sounds of owls and other wildlife. We did also only book 1 night initially, but Brian was more than happy to except a cash in hand booking for the Sunday night so that we could stay. We loved our stay here and we will be returning. Thank you very much!!

N'a pas aimé Not really a dislike but the shower handle is easily knocked, which means your water goes off, easily swapped though :-)

Réponse du gestionnaire : Thank you for your warm and comprehensive review, it is always pleasing to hear that our guests have enjoyed their stay with us. We deliberately restrict our site to a maximum of 6 pitches so we can be sure that your stay with us will be peaceful and relaxing, this is of course helped be the fact that we have no mobile or wifi signal here so it is a chance to get some rest from the digital noise that is all around us these days. Thanks again and we look forward to welcoming you back some time.

We loved it and will be staying again in the near future

août 2018

A aimé I stayed with my partner in the meadow field as sadly, the main site was booked up, however, it was exceptionally clean and well maintained. We stayed 2 nights and whilst the meadow was seperate from the main site to vehicles, we could access the main site on foot on the public footpath. The site itself is gorgeous, full of greenery and the 2 lakes were stunning 😍 there were many pathways and public footpaths to explore which made for a lovely evening stroll 😊 The meadow field was peaceful and quiet, which suited me. I enjoyed the tranquillity and the open space made for a relaxing evening of stargazing! 🌌 The 2nd night, we rented a firepit which was truely delightful. Reasonably priced and fuel available on site to buy. The lovely gent on reception delivered it to our tent so that my seats didn't get grubby 😁 The showers were lovely, clean and well maintained. The site also offered static caravans and gorgeous bells tents, bracken pitches as well as grass pitches. The meadow field had 2 portaloos for convenience, but the main block was a just a couple of minutes walk away if needed 😊 We were sadly, out if ranch for the wifi that was provided, which wasn't a problem for me...however it was for my other half 😂 my mobile signal (O2) was touch and go, and often not enough to load the internet properly...so if you are looking for a tech-free stay, look no further! 😄 the wifi was excellent on the main site. I will definately be returning to book a bell tent in the near future, and I will certainly be booking to camp with my tent again. Great value for money and a stunning location 😁

N'a pas aimé Not a dislike as such but I chose this site because I was looking for somewhere near Cullompton, I booked through pitchup.com which registered this site as near Cullompton when it was infact closer to Wellington. This didn't bother me too much but possibly needs changing on pitch up 🤔
