Emplacement sur herbe avec électricité
A aimé Nothing on site.
Surrounding area, however, is good especially the village with decent pubs, restaurant and riverside picnic area and play are for babies, kids and exercise area for adults.
N'a pas aimé Everything was wrong.
Washing up area was untidy and unclean. One Male toilet and one Female toilet for whole site.
Shower room next to men's toilet was filthy.
£10 charge for pitch with electric was expensive; other sites we stayed at charge £5 max per night and most sites are free.
Pitch size was too small.
Sign to the site was poor.
Children play area was advertised but it was basically a jumping castle(!) that was not available till after pub opening time and deflated at night.
We booked on the day and on arrival just after 3 pm we were told we have to wait till the pub opens for check in. I explained that online booking stated check in is any time after 1pm and we specified 3pm as our arrival time. They did not have our name or allocated pitch. They had to clear one pitch of parked car to allow us to pitch there.

Emplacement pour camping-car sur herbe avec électricité
A aimé Quiet and friendly site. Pitch allowed car/camper plus owning and 4 adults.
Other sites are stingy and ask to pay for a small additional tent/awning/trailer and charge if more than two people stay. Nice clean lake Albeit small one was full of growth. We liked the maintained path around the big lake. Very friendly staff (Dave if I remember him correctly) showing us different pitch locations where we could park our campervan. Nice hot water in showers and washing area. Toilet rolls were nicely placed in roll holders stand/stacks; unlike sites where rolls then tend to fall onto wet floor and waste the toile rolls. One of the helping hands gave us directions to places of interest and natural beauty. Some other sites lack this service. Would have been nice if there were leaflets or fixed map marking their locations.
N'a pas aimé Departure should be extended to 1 pm.
Arrival should be extended up to 9 pm.
Pitches boundary could be marked so that people park within their pitch boundary and not encroach on others pitch.
Being a gentleman, I suggest that there is a separate toilet facility for women. Some arrogant and inconsiderate men especially male children tend not to lift the seat when they pee.
For campervan users consider facilitating occupied/reserved sign when the pitch is booked for more than one day so that the occupiers can drive away and be able to return to the same pitch. In our case we just put up a tiny beach shelter/tent.

2. Waste bins were full.
3. No waste bin at the washing area.
4. No Elson /waste disposal area.
5. Owning should be free if charge.
6. Would have been nice to see list of places of interest.

Réponse du gestionnaire : Hello, we're sorry you didnt enjoy your stay. Our showers are new and hadn't been plumbed in but we opened them as a lot of campers wanted a cold shower during the heat wave to cool off- these are now all plumbed in with hot running water. The washing up station has got hot water also, so you would have been able to get some if you needed it. Unfortunately you’ve come to visit on our first summer and we didn't realise how busy we was going to be- new bins arrived last week and are now in situ for the campers as the 2 big bins we had wasnt enough. There is a waste disposal area available on site and its labelled- did you speak to a member of staff to find this out?

A aimé Open fields unlike some other sites. Nice see animals in adjoining fields. Spotted goat; unusual but nice. Very relaxing. Staff very friendly. Portaloo Toilets very deceiptive but they have fully flush system and running cold water. Only 2 toilets and 3 showers. Open air kitchen with fresh but only cold water. Some Campers managed to fish and canoe in the river.
We managed to locate the site easily using Google Maps.
Access to Camp site is through the farm. This may cause confusion. Also large motorhomes have to navigate carefully from access road and through farm to get to camp site.
N'a pas aimé Is it value for money when compared to other sites. I've camped at other sites paying £25 per night that included electricity and gas better kitchen and washing facilities with running hot water.

A aimé Nice clean and quiet site with good facilities consisting of separate shower rooms, WC rooms, Kitchen wash rooms and washing machine.
Electric hookup included.
I liked the arrival and departure times. Arrive by 10 PM and depart by 11AM.
This is the second time we stayed at Slade Paddock. The camp site is on the edge of a village. We enjoyed a stroll into the village reading its history and viewing sign post landmarks.
On arrival the gate opens automatically; that's if you have pre-booked. If not you can pay on site. We did not book on our first stay and paid in cash on arrival.
N'a pas aimé There is no on-site shop but there are shopping facilities in a village not far from there.
The site could provide list of interesting places to visit. Ely and Cambridge are good places to visit whilst staying here. There is also bus service to these places.
Like other sites there is no real reception office.

Réponse du gestionnaire : Thank you for taking time to review our site. We do pride ourselves with our very clean facilities. Maybe as you hadn't pre-booked Jayne wasn't available to show you to your pitch - this would be unusual as she greets everyone staying here and gives all information that is required. We are a small site and think that having a on-site bar (which doubles as reception) and a food van on weekends is a great addition as most sites our size don't offer this. A shop on-site would not be viable at all when there is a shop in walking distance to our campsite. Many thanks Sal and Trev
