Quiet and scenic location.
Well maintained site with nice little cafe at weekend.
Loved the swimming lakes and ease of access from campsite.
Perfect for a few days away.

Long way to toilets and water. Not ideal during night in the rain.
Didn’t use shower facilities as one out of order so only one other available.
Would like to stay longer but not without better facilities.

Loved our visit. Such a special place. Quiet, spacious and fire pits. The dog enjoyed it too - had some great walks. The lakes were all gorgeous. The staff are all wonderful. The cafe - fantastic food and cakes and all very reasonably priced. Captain Jack too! 🖤 He was an absolute treasure. We will be back! 🧜‍♀️❤️

Nothing at all!

The place is fabulous but be prepared for no electricity and basic toilets/showers. Really nice getting back to nature, listening to the birds and rainfall - really peaceful and calming. No music allowed, no generators or other things that ruin the peace and quiet. Incredible for a bit of swimming, a coffee in the café, and reading my book which is exactly what I needed.

The individual who runs the place is lovely and attentive, and resolved any issues I had quickly.

Some other campers were a little on the noisy side, kids are allowed (there is one lake where they aren't but that doesn't always stop the adults from taking them there any way) and they tend to be a bit noisy.

Remoteness of it means access is not the easiest and be prepared for your suspension to take a bit of a beating on the pot holes.

Lakes are great for swimming, shower/toilet block clean, lovely friendly staff.

Well worth every penny great site an the lakes where amazing has everything ya need for a camping trip an will be returning next time with family

The swimming is absolutely beautiful & magical. Well worth a visit. We will certainly be going back. Cafe is good too.

The toilet block is quite a way from the camping & is in desperate need of a renovation. The shower wasn’t working when we were there.

Peaceful large flat field and good location for York Centre and Race Course. Logs, kindling and fire lighters available to purchase.

We booked a campervan grass pitch at £25pn. The toilets, water tap and chemical disposal were quite a distance from the tent field. The toilets weren’t very clean unfortunately. Luckily we had our own in the van. I think all in all the rate for our stay was more than the facilities reflected.

Freedom to choose our own spot and have a fire. Being steeped in nature. Not busy on the site. Nice cafe. Bonkers friendly crow (will pinch your earrings and hold them hostage for food). General pleasant atmosphere.

Long walk to the loos. Actually this was a great opportunity to move around and take in more nature, but in the night, in the rain, I was less keen. A closer loo would perfect this camping experience.
