Toilets were clean, lots of space on our pitch, beautiful scenery, would definitely travel back here. Was our first time camping with our dog and had a great experience.

Could not find pitch 20, only 19 and 21 were signposted. Tried to ring and left a message as it was out of hours but no one got back to us.

the fishing lake

We camped for two nights. While the lodgings by the lake exude a certain charm, regrettably, the designated campsite fails to meet expectations. It scarcely qualifies as a proper campsite; rather, it resembles a parking area adjacent to a train station that never materialized. This space serves solely as a canvas for pitched tents, its utility limited to such. The encompassing environment garners, at best, a lukewarm appraisal. Its appearance evokes that of an abandoned construction site, evoking an air of neglect. Due to its proximity to an open field (approximately one mile distant), persistent gusts of wind are commonplace, necessitating constant efforts to seek refuge. A solitary communal shower facility is available, curiously referred to as unisex, although lacking in amenities such as hot running water and mirrors at the washing stations. While three fishing lakes are advertised, one is more aptly described as a mere pond. Evenings are marked by a dearth of activities; strolling through idyllic countryside is a non-option, as the locale itself lacks such rustic appeal. The surrounding landscape is dominated solely by farmland and open fields. Our dissatisfaction culminated in an early departure, foregoing a scheduled night's stay. Considering the steep fee of £25 per night, this particular site garners no endorsement whatsoever.

So much to like here. The location is good, secluded but 5 mins away from Ely so all you need is there. The site itself is vast with so much space not just within your own pitch but all around. We have a large dog and she loved all the walks, especially around the 3 lakes. Talking of lakes, the fishing here is great fun. Lots of silverfish to keep you entertained but plenty carp to challenge you’re catching skills. The toilets and showers were clean, the washing up facilities were good, large fridge/ freezer to store the extras. BBQ’s and fire pits allowed so we had some lovely evenings. The sunrises and sunsets were stunning. We’ve both agreed we would definitely stay there again. So peaceful and quiet with everything you need. Loved it.

Nothing to dislike. The weather could have been nicer on a couple of days (pitched up in torrential rain)! However, may I suggest a mirror in the toilets and a shelf in the showers to pop your stuff in when washing. Also a suggestion of perhaps the reception area holding a small supply of basics such as milk, t bags oh and perhaps some maggots ? But these are just suggestions, there was nothing we disliked here, lovely site to stay at.

Really clean showers and toilets, very helpful receptionist (laura) really lovely lakes with some sizeable carp, and the cabins looked gorgeous

Good facilities. Very fresh and clean. So fresh you could still smell the wood! Had an electric pitch. Ground was easy to pitch in. Nice vibes! Flat land so you can see for miles.

There are lots of bugs due to the campsite being between a few fishing lakes so remember to bring your bug spray and keep those bedrooms zipped up!

New toilet/shower block was a very nice addition. The fire pits are also a lovely facility to use. Good to have the fishing lakes in close proximity to the campsite.
