Let your wild side loose on the Peppa Pig themed rides at Paultons Park Home of Peppa Pig World (five minutes’ drive). There are lots of attractions nearby for the whole family to get their hands stuck into, including Longdown Activity Farm (10 minutes), a family-run farm where kids can bottle-feed goats or meet the alpacas and donkeys. If you’re a fan of animals, wild animals such as grey wolves, wallabies and otters live and feed at New Forest Wildlife Park (10 minutes). A trip to the beach… there’s more to do than just lounge around at Lepe Country Park (half an hour), a sand and shingle beach. Go kitesurfing, windsurfing or sea kayaking and take a dip in the dedicated swimming area. Another stop along the coast, Lymington (35 minutes) is an ancient seaport town with a beach, seawater baths and fishing boats. And in Hythe Marina Village (15 minutes), take a train across the historic pier and watch the life of a fishing village unfold. One for the city, too? Take a passenger ferry from here into Southampton (20 minutes) for city walls, galleries and lively port. And perhaps look into the cathedral cities of Salisbury (half an hour) and Winchester (25 minutes) too.
