Looking into a lodge

Trying to find a place for a glamping holiday on the North Yorkshire coast? Somewhere by a lake with a touch of luxury? You’ve hit the bullseye with Killerby Old Hall Caravan Park, a spacious and well-maintained family site on the North Yorkshire coast. This glamping retreat has a smart collection of lodges close to the seaside towns of Filey and Scarborough and owners Shaun and Babette look forward to welcoming you here for a relaxed break at their historic property… Set within substantial grounds, the site has access to an on-site bistro-bar called Nine Eighty (open from Wednesday to Sunday). There is also an indoor swimming pool, a play area and a playing field. Another lovely feature is that the accommodation is tucked away in a quiet location close to a peaceful lake, where there's ample scope for relaxing in the open air and spotting passing wildlife. For coastal scenery, Killerby Old Hall Caravan Park is under two miles from the sandy beach of Cayton Bay. Pick up beach picnic supplies in Cayton village centre roughly half a mile away, where there’s a post office, local shop and pub. All the lodges are fully heated and insulated, making them great for a staycation in any season. As you enter through the French doors into the main living area, you'll be met by a double bed, bunk beds and a kitchenette area equipped with a sink, fridge, microwave, two-ring electric hob, kettle, toaster, cutlery, crockery, and cooking utensils. The lounge area has a sofa and 43" smart TV too, as well as a folding dining table and four chairs. Each lodge also has its own ensuite with toilet, sink, and shower. Plug sockets and USB ports are available throughout. Outside, each unit has a private decked area with an outdoor picnic table. Space is available for one car in a central parking area a few steps from the accommodation.

A aimé The location to Scarborough and Bridlington. The bistro was great. The swimming pool was fab as you have the sole use for an hour. Staff all very helpful and friendly.

N'a pas aimé The pitch sizes were small. Felt very overlooked as the caravans at the side of you were so close. We have a large twin axel and only had room for that and the sun canopy. Car had to be parked in front of caravan. Next doors waste was on our grass.

A aimé Nice area, park onsite for children and an off lead area for dogs. WiFi works well.

N'a pas aimé Have to pay your own electric, no idea how much to pay so we put in £10 and then obviously didn’t use it all up, there was no guidance on what to put on. The swimming pool is £10 extra, no indication of this being an extra cost. We were told it’s a heated pool, but it’s not heated enough to be enjoyable. The reception is mostly unmanned & we called the emergency line as we got locked in the swimming pool and even then nobody answered! Despite there being a play area, it’s not a very child friendly site - much better suited to couples as it’s very quiet and felt bad every time they made a noise. The toilets and showers are clean, but clearly an issue somewhere as the women’s stinks of sewerage.

A aimé Lovely surroundings, with immaculate grounds in a peaceful location. Staff were always friendly and polite.

Chalet Daisy (jacuzzi)

A aimé Excellent glamping pod. Had everything you needed. Tv. Settee. Double bed and bunk beds. Small compact kitchen and great wet room/ toilet. Hot tub was ready to go on arrival and very friendly staff. Beautiful grounds.
