Electric optional grass pitch (large)
Liked Superb site. The quietest campsite we have ever stayed on :-)
Lots of space for tent and car and room in the middle to play games.
Lovely clean facilities with undercover area for washing up
Facilities room with access to a freezer and fridge - fantastic for ice pack freezing which seems to be becoming more rare (also had a washing machine and tumble drier)
Rural location
The owner was around (and very friendly) in case of any problems
Disliked Nothing!

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch
Liked Being able to choose own pitch, pitching around the edge of the field so space to play in the middle, freezer for ice blocks (essential for us and so few sites offer this now so thank you), clean toilets, big, open skies, no big groups allowed so quiet at night.
Disliked At the moment it is quite exposed, but more hedges have been planted, so just needs time! On the map it says 'children's play area' which is a bit misleading as it is just a designated place to play (with goals)- maybe 'designated children's play space' or something would be better.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Lovely site
Lots of room
Very sheltered - it was so windy Dover castle was closed but our tent didn't move!
Very friendly owner - he made the kids feel really welcome
Access to ice block freezing facilities - a 'must' for us and so few sites offer this now
Good, central location
Clean facilities
We stayed on the Buttercup field - which had two showers, two toilets with sinks in the cubicles, and a washing up area
Disliked Nothing!

From the manager: yaaayy thank you so much what a lovely review!! My goodness it has been windy but I'm pleased you and your tent stayed put, I expect you know how to put it up correctly which always helps. I didnt realise the castle was closed due to it though, I guess they were worried the children might blow of the top !! Health and Safety gone a bit mad I mean its stood solid since 1180 :) Your review is gratefully received and will be helpful to others. We hope we see you again. The Knowler gang

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (adults only)
Liked Another lovely, peaceful stay on the non-electric field. We like that you can choose where you pitch if you don't have a hook-up, the plentiful trees, that the site is very peaceful and quiet, the beautiful views, the clean and spacious toilets and showers, and the utility shed.
Disliked Nothing - except that the site has become adults only. We understand why the behaviour of some children has led to this decision, however we will be sad not to come again.

Liked A very quiet peaceful site. People only allowed to pitch around the edge of the field so the view is undisturbed and you're not packed in like sardines! It is a very sheltered site. We saw tents on other sites being buffeted by the wind but this site is in a sheltered valley so very protected. Toilets and showers were clean. Good price as well. They have bats, balls etc for children (an adults) to use to play games in the middle of the fields - a nice touch!
Disliked Be prepared to add a small charge onto the fees for hot water to wash up (showers are currently free) and freeze ice packs which makes it slightly less of a bargain - though still a good deal. Most inconvenient thing is the fact that ice packs are frozen in the shop which is only open at 9am (for about 15mins) and 7pm (for about an hour). You need to arrange your plans to be around then or you can't get your ice packs!
