Excellent location for walking the coastal…

Aug 2026

Liked Excellent location for walking the coastal path or just saunter into Tenby. The reception was manned and I received a thorough brief of the site and facilities. The pitches were big enough and the toilet & shower blocks are plentiful throughout the site. The toilets were cleaned regularly in the morning and late afternoon. The dish wash area is satisfactory & again cleaned regularly. The Cross Inn is a 5 minute walk from the campsite which is convenient but it gets very full so if you require dinner you will need to book. This site is being run by a dedicated workforce who are trying their best for everyone to have a positive experience - thank you!

Disliked The road noise is not great, although the pitch I chose was not on that fence line so we didn't notice it to the degree highlighted in other reviews. Most pitches are sloping so you will need ramps.

From the welcome at reception to…

Jun 2026

Liked From the welcome at reception to the time of leaving the site we were impressed throughout our stay. The views across the hills were superb, and walks from the site to local villages along quiet country lanes were great. The facilities were spotlessly clean all day and night. They have a busy, hard working but discreet staff that get things sorted throughout the day. The pool and bar/food area was excellent with very friendly customer service. We will return - a gem!

Perfect site for Bude

Sept 2020

Liked Location - a quiet valley just outside Bude amongst the trees which gives some protection in inclement weather. A walk up a hill (will get the heart and lungs going) takes you to another campsite and link to the lanes to Bude. Bude is about a 45 minute walk. The pub about 25 mins in Poughill with excellent food. Facilities - spotlessly clean throughout our stay, with plenty of hot water. We had no trouble with WIFI connection throughout our stay. Dog friendly with plenty of walks out the back of the site. Excellent brief on arrival and excellent, friendly hosts.

Great small site with all you need!

Sept 2020

Liked Flat well facilitated pitch. Cleanliness of the ablution block and washing area. Location - easy to travel out to the surrounding area by car or on foot. Garage within walking distance for papers and other essentials.

Disliked Constant noise from the nearby road.

From the manager: Thank you for your kind review of our park, our aim is to always present a clean and pleasant environment for all our guests. Sometimes the road sound carries, but on the whole, we are a quiet and peaceful park whilst also being close to local travel routes. look forward to seeing you again soon.

Cycling or walking - great base!

Sept 2020

Liked Fabulous, peaceful and scenic location. Flat even hard standing pitch. Compliance with Covid distancing procedures. Cleanliness of the shower/toilet facilities. Open spaces on site, large enough not to feel overcrowded. Walking/Cycling routes available through the Forest of Dean right off site. Local pubs/post office within a short walk. All the staff from reception, bar, shop and cleaners were always courteous and helpful.

Disliked Showers - hot water, get there early! WiFi - if you need constant connectivity this is not the site for you.

From the manager: Thanks for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us Mark! We are pleased that there is so much you enjoyed and liked about the site, we are very lucky to have such open beautiful space in the Forest of Dean. I have passed your comments about Wi-Fi on to our management team who are looking it this, unfortunately as we are within the forest its very hard to obtain good Wi-Fi speeds. We look forward to welcoming you again soon to the park.

Outstanding site for walkers!

Jul 2019

Liked We were met at reception by Jim, the owners(Alex) father, and fully briefed on the site facilities, local walks, pubs and their menu type, and a map of Crickhowell. We could not have had a better reception brief. The pitch was grass with a water point directly behind the van. Bins are scattered around the site for easy disposal of rubbish. The site is split in two with a small field and bigger one with permanent caravans on the one side. The toilet and wash room facilities have been recently refurbished and were excellent - very clean, good shower pressure and plenty of hot water. Within easy reach of Crickhowell, local pubs and excellent walks through Glanusk estate it is a walkers paradise. The site is dog friendly with an exercise area a 2 min walk from the site. Don't think there is wifi available - didn't ask we were too busy enjoying the countryside and walking!

Great location - more TLC needed

Jun 2018

Liked Location: Off a quiet lane on the outskirts of Wellington. The surrounding lanes are good for walking with very light traffic. A secluded location surrounded by rural countryside. The Half Moon pub is more like a thirty five minute walk rather than 20 mins as described on the pitch up web site. The food at the pub is very good and the owners are really welcoming.

Disliked Reception: No one available when we tried to book in and did not have anyone speak to us throughout our stay. WiFi: Not used, no reception = no password. Toilets and showers: Not clean on arrival and eventually cleaned on the Friday before the weekend surge. The site needs more TLC.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: We would like to apologise for our momentary dip in customer service levels last week. On Thursday we were rushed to hospital for the early arrival of the newest member of the Kingsmead Centre team. Tobias Adrian Purvis was born on the 30th June 2018 weighing 5lbs 7oz :) We did our best through friends and family to cover the campsite operations until our Summer staff arrived onsite on the Friday. As you can see from all our other reviews this is not a regular occurrence!

Liked Location: Just outside the village of Jumieges - a really picturesque setting. Fabulous location for walking/cycling. Pitches: All are surrounded on three sides by beech hedgerows and give a great deal of privacy. Facilities: Showers, toilets and wash areas all cleaned regularly with plenty of hot water. Security: Site secured at night. Dog friendly with area nearby to allow dogs off lead.

As above

Apr 2018

Liked Location: From the west along the N332 just before Altea keep your eyes open on the right hand side on a downward slope, the sign can be missed. Satnav was not good locating the exact spot. You are 75mts from the sea front down a small track. Altea and Albir are both very close within easy walking distance. Plenty of bars and restaurants are available on a long Altea seafront promenade. Reception: We pre booked by phone, on arrival the receptionist was helpful and efficient. Although we were allocated a pitch she gave us a choice on the site. Facilities: Two small toilet/shower rooms are near the reception area. A shower/toilet/washroom block with three cubicles of each facility within, is a short walk from reception. At the end of this block is a dish washing area and a small laundry facility. Plenty of hot water and immediate. Toilet paper provided but take your towels for drying hands as there were no paper towels/hand drying machines. A communal sitting area is available overlooking the Med, it has charm and is relaxing. WIFI was very good. There is a microwave and coffee machine. Used books available with bread delivered daily for purchase. Security; Main gates are locked at night which made us feel very secure. Dog friendly although no areas immediate to the site to allow dogs off lead. Summary: We have a VW campervan and our pitch with a awning was perfect. It is a lovely family run, quaint, rustic camp site, which we would highly recommend.

Disliked The thing that would enhance the toilet facilities would be hand dryers or paper towels.

A site with excellent facilities and outstanding staff.

Mar 2018

Liked Location: Centre of Calpe with the sea front a couple of minutes walk away. Reception: Efficient booking-in process. We were given an option of various pitches. Facilities: Toilets/showers/washroom and laundry area were spotless and regularly cleaned. The staff cleaning the toilet block took pride in their work and should be congratulated for their professional approach. Bar and pool area all clean a mix of tiled and artificial grass flooring. Activities: Various throughout the week and were well run. Security: The whole site is fenced off and uses a card key entry system. Staff: Very pleasant and friendly and always willing to assist with any issues.

Disliked Unfortunately outside the site there is ongoing construction work that creates a dusty and hectic area in front of the main entrance.

From the manager: Dear Client, Thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay at Sol de Calpe. We value guest feedback as a means to continue to improve. We are pleased that you enjoyed with our efficient and friendly staff, the location close to the center, and that you found the facilities particularly cleaned. Finally, we are sorry to hear that the nearby building work may have interfered with your peace and relaxation. It is our hope that this work will conclude as soon as possible, so that future guests will be able to enjoy our facilities without any hindrances. We would be delighted if you consider returning to either of Sol de Calpe’s camper areas the next time you visit Calpe. Kind Regards,

Reception: Friendly and helpful. Gave us…

Feb 2018

Liked Reception: Friendly and helpful. Gave us a map of the site with vacant pitches highlighted and advised us to locate our preferred choice. Toilets & Showers: Regularly cleaned and were spotless. Showers were excellent hot and cold water and very good pressure. Two facilities located front and rear of the site Washing area: Hot running water for dishes & washing machine - again clean and tidy. No sink plugs - maybe that's normal we are new to touring. Location: Right next to the Mediterranean sea. Benajarafe a 20 min walk away although on a busy road. Restaurant: We did not eat, but it was popular with other tourers. The bar staff were very friendly and prices were reasonable. Dog: We had one, and they were very 'dog friendly'

Disliked The road outside the front entrance can be busy - it is the main coastal route to Malaga. This was more noticeable to us as we had a pitch near the main entrance.
