Electric grass pitch
Liked Great area for walks, onsite resraurant and small shop for basics.
Disliked This campsite should be 10/10 but unfortunately its let down by the hosts. We paid for electricity as an extra on Pitch up and saw that there was Wifi. On our arrival I was told by the owners that the electricity was a misely 2 amps, not enough to boil a kettle and if we wanted 10 amps it was an extra 12 euros per day, the most we've paid on our 28 day holiday in France. Then we were told that to access the Wifi we had to go online, this turned out to be 20 euros for 2 days, again to line the owners pockets.
The lists of do's and dont's was endless, we even had to give the dogs vaccine details !
I was told that the electricity could only be attached by the owners by padlock and if they were'nt there after 7.30pm then we'd have to go without !
I was told not to wear shoes 'in the swimming pool'. The following day I was sitting in the pool area with my shoes beside the lounger, the owner appeared and shouted at me over and over ' you cant wear shoes in the the swimming pool !!' in front of other campers. I followed him back to the reception and explained that ' no shoes in the swimming pool, means the water, not the area ' in English. He apologised, but thats not the point, we were staying for 6 nights, have some respect for your guests or dont run a campsite.
If your'e happy staying in a campsite that squeezes every penny out of you, controls when you can and cant have your electricity on, gives you a list of rules up to your arm and owners who abuse you for no reason this this is the place for you !
Good luck !

From the manager: Good evening, Thank you to for sharing your experience. We are sorry that it did not meet what you had expected. But we can't let you say everything. Via pitch'up you reserve a standard pitch with or without electricity. On standard place you have choice between 2 or 5 Amps. And you had reserve for 2 Amps, not the extra for 5 Amps. 5 Amps are sufficient fgenerally for an electric kettle, it depends each quality of materiels. In our campsite 10 Amps is only possible on confort place not on standard place, so the difference is not only the electricity you will use, we did not sell back electricity. The confort sites are bigger, water and drainage on the place and separation with bushes, and you did not give the campsite more than the other guests on the same kinf of pitch. You knew that you should arrive before 7 pm, for the validity of your reservation. it is written on Pitch'up site and when we confirm your reservation with details we remind you that. When you arrive late some time we give a pitch for the 1st night because only 1 person to welcome everyone but we never say no electricity, so I guess you get electricity on your arrival even to not have told you were late; or you said that you manage without and you have not paid for electricity. You are right the manager (not the owners) should not shout, and he apologize and understood it could be violent but you know people from the South are hot-blooded, and we are used to speak load. In French "piscine" is the pool and the swimming pool area, no difference, thank to let us know. But in France for every public swimmingpool, we have to cros the footbath witout wearing shoes or carrying; shoes, clothing, food, alcohol... have to stay before the footbath for hygiene reasons outside the swimming pool area. For the wifi we have chosen the Osmozis solution and you pay to them not to the manager, and he offers you 30 min free each 6 hours from 9 am to 10 pm. He knows wifi is not optimum but till we can't get the optical fiber it is very difficult to improve the connexion, he is thinking about it and working for that. Plug in and plug off is made by us for security reasons and be cause you are on holydays.

From the manager: We're sorry your stay wasn't to your liking. Due to the large number of trees in the campsite, the Wi-Fi signal doesn't reach all areas. A designated Wi-Fi zone is available, guaranteeing a very good connection. Toilet paper is for sale at the snack bar and reception. Sincerely

From the manager: Hi Marcus Thank you for your review. As you can see we are in a prime location for Chester City centre, wirral and north wales and therefore we are located centrally which unfortunately means you may experience some road noise. We hope you had a safe onward journey. Kind Regards Oakwood Farm
