Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch (wild)
Liked We love this place! We stayed for 1 night in 2023 as a stop over to break up a long journey but had it saved as somewhere we needed to get back to. Very peaceful, nice views, friendly owners. We did the walk up Rodney’s pillar which you can see from the campsite and that was fab, would recommend.
Clean proper flushing toilets and warm showers.
Kitchen area with lots of bits to use (hob, kettle, all utensils) we only used it for washing up but I imagine it’ll be handy for those who need the extra facilities.
Disliked Not necessarily a dislike but a heads up if people have dogs/kids who are reactive to the sound of helicopters as there’s lots going back and forth the bases nearby

Liked We were luckily only there with 1 other camper in the field so felt like we had plenty of space.
Clean toilets and showers.
Good washing up facilities.
Ca was friendly and told us about where we could go on walks etc although we didn’t end up doing them as we slept in and only stayed for one night on the way to north wales. Will definitely stop by again!
Disliked Nothing on this trip although if the campsite was at full capacity it might not have the peaceful feel we got to experience

Liked A lovely peaceful spot, we were lucky to have the camping field to ourselves which was great!
Penny was very welcoming, greeted us on arrival, showed us around/where to find water/how to use the composting toilets etc.
Good base for trips out, Penny had some great recommendations that we wouldn’t have gone to if she hadn’t mentioned.
There was some helpful info left in the fridge shed, with local tide times, flapjacks and marshmallows, treats for the dog, lovely touches.
Beautiful starry nights. Gorgeous sunsets.
Disliked From our dog… disliked the geese (couldn’t see them just heard them) think Penny said they were a neighbours, barked at them at their bedtime when they were being called in… good job no one else was staying to irritate them with the barking!

From the manager: Thank you for writing this thoughtful review, we always appreciate the time it takes to do this. What lovely photos! It was a pleasure having you both ( and Floki) staying with us and you are always welcome back. All the best, Penny and Jon .

Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Stunning views, easy to find, clean toilets. Fab for stargazing on a clear night.
We were checked in by a friendly guy on the first evening, he let us know where to find the toilets/showers/pizza night which was helpful. Also instructions in the toilets to help find the showers/pizza.
Showers were a short walk away and clean.
National trust car park next to the showers with Wi-Fi if needed. Also a path from the car park for a nice walk.
Yummy pizzas on the Friday night! Just up by the showers and seatoller farm.
20 minute scenic drive to Keswick, market on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Disliked We were in a van and due to the weather (lots of rain) we were unable to access one area due to mud. Not a major issue as found another good spot but just a warning for those in vans in wet weather.
Signs up saying no fires although some people did have some so not sure what the rules were exactly.

Liked Easy to find, good communication from the hosts and a friendly welcome.
We booked last minute for a stop on our way home from the Lake District and couldn’t have hoped for a better place to spend the night - wish we’d have stayed longer!
We had a tour from the hosts and their gorgeous dog on arrival and were lucky enough to be the only ones staying so had the place to ourselves and pick of the pitches. Lovely open space with cut outs in the grass to pitch up on.
Very peaceful, few farm noises as to be expected. We didn’t explore much as was only a 1 night stop but looked to be some lovely walks from the camp as well as a river to kayak/canoe in. Also has a children’s play area.
The toilets surprised us; for the price of the site and compared to others similar we expected very basic toilets but these were done out lovely, very clean and nicely decorated.
Definitely keeping a note of this one to stay again!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked We only stayed 1 night as a stop off on the way to the Lake District but this campsite was perfect for us.
Easy to find (even as it was starting to get dark) and as we arrived we were greeted and shown into the field. Being the time of year (late September) we had the place all to ourselves!
Gorgeous views, lovely and peaceful. On a working farm so obviously some typical farm noises but it was lovely to be out in the countryside.
2 portaloos on site, water tap and recycling bins.
Can’t comment on the surrounding area as we didn’t explore much but would definitely return.
Thanks for a lovely stay!

From the manager: Hi Tiffany, it was lovely to meet you all, and so glad you managed to stay a while before having to travel north. We are sure you had a lovely holiday, and hope to see you again in 2024. You can book us and the whole site if you wish, should you have a private party that needs a camping site!! Take care, and thank you for your lovely review. Best wishes Pat and John

Liked Everything!
Lovely and peaceful location. Great sized pitches. Especially loved that the pitches are cut out so there’s long grass in between you and others so it feels more private.
Owner was very quick to respond and helpful, they called us when we arrived to let us know where to find water and logs to buy for the fire.
Toilet block at the entrance and a washing up area. We didn’t actually use the toilet block as we were closer to the portaloos. Portaloos were very clean, plenty of toilet roll and obviously well maintained.
We only stayed one night (to break up a long drive) but we had a great stay and would have loved to stay longer!
There was also some activities (like paint balling) nearby that some people may like.

Liked What didn’t we like?
Lovely location and views, easy to find, good outdoor space (although no outdoor shelter so check the weather ahead!), the hut had everything we needed, was lovely and cosy.
We only stayed for 1 night but it was perfect for us.
Disliked Can’t comment on the local area/things to do as we didn’t explore from the site (it was a stop off trip)

Liked Very peaceful, lovely place. We were the only ones there, nice to sit out by the lake.
Very good value for money.
We booked last minute as a one night stop to break up our journey to Cornwall. Would love to stay again. Looks like there’s some lovely walks about too.
Disliked Lane is quite narrow so this must be why the size of the vehicle is limited so be aware of that.
Lots of gnats sat by the lake but not their problem, just another thing to be aware of maybe take some spray or something as we had a few bites.

Liked Great location, loved having a bbq with the view of the lake and castle. John was friendly and helpful, we had the whole field to ourselves so the dog could run around. Nice walk to the castle and past the stream too. Very happy campers.
Disliked Can’t think of anything

Penzance, Cornwall, England
Liked After staying in a number of campsites in the cornwall/devon area this site was by far the cheapest - but strangely enough had better facilities than any of the other sites; staff told us that the prices of the campsite do not change all year (which makes it great for families looking for cheap camping in the summer). With free wifi, hot showers, phone charging, and friendly staff.
Disliked Be wary of where you set up - the field has a slight slope which can mean sleeping is difficult if you are sleeping horizontally with the slope.
We searched for Penzance, so we were expecting it to be closer to the actual town of Penzance which it was not - although we actually preferred the campsite's location, because of the great beach 5 minutes away. But if you're looking for a campsite in Penzance, this may not be the campsite for you.
