  • Well-maintained park a mile from Green River town centre
  • Within an hour's drive of Arches and Canyonlands national parks
  • Next to Green River State Park for walks, picnics and swimming
Fresh air, scenic hikes, campfires and starry, starry nights – the Utah desert ticks a lot of boxes for those who seek the simple pleasures in life. If you’re one of those folk, make tracks to iCamp Green River, in the oasis town of Green River. This is a splendid location to settle in for a few days gawping at the area’s many natural attractions – with a drive of an hour or so you can be hiking your way round the Arches or Canyonlands national parks or peering at the curious hoodoos in the Goblin Valley State Park. Swift drives and easy ins and outs are a cinch thanks to the proximity of the Interstate 70 and other main roads, and it’s just a mile into town for restaurants, food stores and the like. Should you require a bit of leg stretching after a long journey, right next to the campground is the Green River State Park, for walking trails, picnic spots and swims from the sandy beach. Travelling canines don’t need to go that far as the friendly folk at iCamp have fenced off a special exercise area where dogs can run about and let off steam. Away from pesky light pollution, proper darkness falls here by night, so bag a spot by the communal firepit and get set for traditional nights of stories and singsongs.

Local attractions

Make sure your camera’s fully loaded – Utah’s an utter stunner when it comes to natural attractions. Hikers and photographers alike flock to the Arches and Canyonlands national parks, both of which are less than an hour’s drive from iCamp Green River. Pick one if you must, but ideally leave time to have a good old poke around in both these gorgeous parks. Less famed but equally worthy of time and pics are the Goblin Valley State Park (filled with odd-looking hoodoo rock pillars), Capitol Reef National Park and the trails around Little Wild Horse Canyon, a narrow slot canyon that’s slightly over an hour’s drive from the campground. Sticking a little closer to base, you can take four wheel drives straight out into the desert on trails leading out of town, play a round at the town’s riverside golf course or learn a bit about the area’s history at the John Wesley Powell River History Museum.
