Two million acres of woodland? It's a cert you won't be short of strutting space at Peacock Meadows Riverside RV Park, on the Rio Grande in Colorado's Rocky Mountains.
You can cast off for trout in the park's private fishing pond, or try your luck in the Rio Grande, to angle without leaving the resort grounds. Close by there's golf and nature spotting, ATV adventuring, mountain biking, mountaineering, and skiing and snowboarding: Peacock Meadows is the closest RV park to the snow sports of the Wolf Creek ski resort.
The park is in Colorado's South Fork district, a famed spot for outdoor activities, national forests and spectacular mountain scenery (take the 117-mile Silver Thread Byway to submerge yourself among that last). Pitches are fully serviced and can accommodate any size of RV.
The central point of Peacock Meadows is its cosy old West-style recreation room, which comes equipped with a bar, restaurant, card tables, satellite TV, and fast and reliable fibre-optic wifi. The big communal kitchen is fully equipped and has seating areas.

Local attractions
This part of Colorado is famed for its outdoor activities, whether that's fishing in the Rio Grande, skiing at Wolf Creek, mountain climbing, hiking, or taking things a bit easier at the Rio Grande Golf Resort a quarter of a mile away.
ATV Trails are also within a quarter of a mile; if you're taking out your own wheels, a must is as much as possible of the Silver Thread Scenic and Historic Byway, a 117-mile scenic road linking the towns of South Fork (two miles), Creede (23 miles), Bachelor Loop (27 miles), Lake City (70 miles) and Gunnison (109 miles).
More? Take the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad through the San Juan peaks, stopping off at the museum in Durango, or let your jaw drop at spectacular Cliff Palace, part of the 4,000+ Ancestral Puebloan archaeological sites in the Mesa Verde National Park.
The Wheeler Geologic Area, Rio Grande Reservoir headwaters, San Luis Valley and over 255 miles of trails and 17 miles of award-winning fishing spots are also accessible from the park.
