- Luxury glamping on the beach in Rawai, 15 minutes' drive from Phuket
- Bell tents with aircon, outdoor furniture and queen-sized beds
- Pool, fishing, sauna, restaurant, takeaway and food shop
'Fancy camping at the seaside' is how the crew at Phuket's Sea Safari describe this splendid and sandy site: cameras at the ready, please, because the social media boasting rights are strong with this one.
Set about 35 minutes' drive from Patong beach, 50 kilometres from Phuket International Airport and a short boat ride from teeny neighbouring isles, Rawai's Sea Safari is a lush site among palm trees and diving centres, ATV rides and local markets – all under blazing Thai sun with the clear and calm waters of the Andaman Sea steps away.
Frankly you'd probably have a lush time kipping just in a sleeping bag on this beach, but your accommodation options here are fancy indeed. You'll be bedding down in swish bell tents (set between the beach and the site pool, if you please), each with queen-sized beds, aircon, wifi, outdoor furniture, and bed linen and breakfast included: this is very likely to be a sandy spot at which to settle down for some time.
There's a restaurant with takeaway on site, and eateries within ambling distance specialising in the sublime local seafood. If you'd rather forage for your own Thai supper, fishing is available on site, there's a food shop, and the famed Sea Gypsy fish and seafood market is within 15 minutes' drive.

Local attractions
What a lush part of Phuket this is, favoured by arty sorts and expats for its spectacular scenery, laidback uncrowded vibe and first-rate fish and seafood. Make for local town Rawai first, to see the famed longtail boats or to hire one from the harbour, mosey around the restaurants and bars on the waterfront, or party on the beach on weekend nights at Sea Gypsy Village.
As with most of Thailand's coast, diving and snorkelling are popular picks around here; you can also plunge into whitewater rafting if you're feeling adventurous, or sail off to spectacular neighbouring isles such as Coral Island and Koh Lone. The Phi Phi Islands, 50 kilometres to the east, can be accessed via boats from Phuket.
Other excellent options around here include Rawai's Phuket Seashell Museum (with the world's biggest pearl) 10 minutes' drive away; island views from Big Buddha Phuket (25 minutes), or – for the truly tough – honing Muay Thai techniques at Rawai's training centre.
