When you choose to stay at FozCamp, a quiet, well-kept campsite on the Paseo Marítimo de Foz, five minutes’ walk from the edge of Foz, you have the choice of several beaches on which to languish, be it the surfing beaches at Llas (five minutes’ walk) and Rapadoira (20 minutes), or the famed Playa de las Catedrales (20 minutes’ drive) punctuated by spectacular sea arches. Lined by colourful hydrangea plants, the neat grass pitches sit under the partial shade of olive and palm trees, close to a small play area with swings. The whitewashed central hub of the campsite contains handy amenities such as a washing machine, dryer, bathrooms with baby-changing tables and hot water in the showers, as well as a reception and a licensed terrace café for snacks and drinks. If you’re sticking with self-catering, barbecues are allowed on site, but you also have the option to meander along the Paseo Marítimo de Foz into lively Foz with its gourmet restaurants and vibrant nightlife. In addition, the campsite is a handy stop on the Camino de Santiago, offering a comfortable and peaceful spot for pilgrims to rest up and re-energise.

This little spot’s a gem, right on the coast with beach and walk access. Guests rave about the super-friendly owners, cleanliness and great facilities, especially the powerful showers. Handy for Foz town, shops and eats. Wi-Fi can be patchy, and shower privacy was a minor niggle.

Overal verzorgde elektriciteit en overal drinkwater. Echte aanrader!

Disliked Geen slang om proper water te vullen
Aan drukke weg dus wel wat verkeer, onze plaats was ook wel helemaal aan de straatkant dus mss achteraan wat rustiger

Liked Great location both to the beach and town of Foz. The pitches were adequate but some on the narrow side and not always private. The wc/shower facilities were spotlessly clean. The owners/managers were friendly, engaging and very helpful and clearly care about their visitors. We wouldn't hesitate to return and wish the team the best of luck with their business, they deserve to do well.

Disliked When several showers are in use the hot water can be intermittent.

Liked Beautiful, well maintained small site with amazing sea views. The site was across the road from a fabulous beach. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The toilets and showers were spotless. 20 min walk from another lovely beach which had lots of restaurants and pubs. 15 min walk from the town with shops.

Disliked It was the most expensive site we stayed in. There wasn't a pool because it was so close to the beach, but the sea was very rough one day and unsafe to get in.

Liked What is not to like about this place! The hosts could not be more welcoming- from the loan of a hose, to making coffees in the bar using our own oat milk so we could enjoy an early morning latte. The camp is exceptionally well maintained and clean with everything you could possibly need. The pitch size is good, the site is small. The bar is very good value too. Locationally, it is within walking distance is bars, restaurants, supermarkets and sandy beaches. There are cycle ways directly from the site too along the coast. This is a gem of a place, thank you for making the start of our tour of Northern Spain so good, this will be a hard site to beat.

Llas (10 minutes’ walk) and Rapadoira (20 minutes) beaches are known for consistent and varied waves suitable for all surfing skill levels; several schools offer lessons and gear rental, and there are surfing competitions all year round that bring in the big names of the sport. You can also hire canoes and kayaks to paddle along the rugged coastline, speed things up on jet skis or go scuba diving in crystal-clear waters to discover the rich marine life of the Lugo shores, while anyone into sport fishing can join a local boat trip or try their hand at catching supper from the beach. Moving back on to dry land, explore pretty seaside Foz (15 minutes) on foot, or cycle along the Paseo Marítimo de Foz to admire Bay of Biscay views along the Galician coast. Pack a picnic and stop off at the sweeping stretch of sand at Playa de las Catedrales (20 minutes’ drive) – be sure to take your camera to snap the dramatic sea arches on the beach.
