Message to all hikers on the Camino de Santiago (aka St James’s Way) – whichever of the ancient routes you’ve followed, you’re very nearly at the end point by the time you get to Camping Peregrino San Marcos. This relaxed and spacious site is seven kilometres from the centre of Santiago de Compostela, making it a handy spot for a stopover before the final push – or a place to retreat to for a well-earned rest once you’ve acquired your final stamp. That’s not to say that you have to arrive on foot at all – you’re equally welcome to come straight here and settle in for a holiday (with family and dogs in tow if you wish). There are numerous hiking trails nearby where you can get a taster of the area's scenery, and a shuttle bus runs to the city centre for easy days out exploring at your leisure. You might also like to head into the city for a meal (the seafood is particularly fine around here), although there's also a restaurant on site, and a barbecue area for alfresco self catering. Whether you’ve trekked across the country, taken a hike locally or just strolled around the city streets, the presence of a swimming pool on site for a refreshing dip is likely to be very welcome. The same goes for the beach bar, serving up cool drinks to end your day. A play area and games room are also on site to provide entertainment for the kids. Pitches here are spacious and shaded, sitting among the trees; they all have access to a launderette and washing-up area as well as toilets and showers.

Liked Ottima accoglienza super gentili e disponibili, piscina enorme e piazzale con erba.
Il supermercato è ben fornito, e i prezzi sono super onesti
La posizione è ottima ci sono spiagge a pochi minuti a piedi, percorribili grazie a una bellissima passerella sul lungomare in legno

Disliked L'unica cosa che cambierei sono le piazzole per le tende, che sono molto strette e piene di radici, che rendono scomodo il posizionamento della tenda. E anche volendo tenere la macchina in piazzola fare manovre è molto complicato

Disliked Une vraie arnaque! Visité le 19 Août, piscine fermée, verte, horrible, car « pas de maître nageur ». Pas de salle pour enfants ou de jeux pour enfants comme noté dans le descriptif car la mairie les a fait enlever car insalubres… pour autant pas d’excuse ni de remise… douche et sanitaires vieillissants… wifi ne fonctionne pas…camping vraiment à éviter.

Liked De werkende wasmachine en vriendelijke ontvangst.

Disliked Ik was niet blij met alleen maar koud water in het hele sanitaire gebouw, het gifgroene zwembad waar dus niet in gezwommen kon worden en de totaal slecht onderhouden camping.

Liked Llegué sobre las 10 de la noche al camping y tenían la cantina por cerrar y la mujer de la cocina me hizo una cena maravillosa, que después de 12 horas de coche se lo agradeceré toda la vida 🫶🏽

El camping es bastante grande, tiene mucha sombra y las parcelas son bastante amplias y con toma de luz.

El personal es majísimo y espero volver a verlos en año que viene!

Aceptan mascotas y son muy agradables con ellas

Disliked La piscina estaba llena pero está descuidada, y los baños necesitan una pequeña reforma

Liked Me gustó mucho la ubicación. Los baños están todos nuevos muy limpios muy amplio el camping plazas de sobra muy buen ambiente. Los accesos de luz numerosos, todo muy completo y sobre todo Roberto, fantástico.

Liked Lovely staff. Very friendly and helpful . Just didn’t seem to be enough of them to maintain the site.

Disliked Very dirty and poorly maintained. Despite staff telling us the pool hours, it was so dirty and murky you couldn’t see the bottom. There were broken sunbeds and broken glass around the pool area. There was a rat floating in the water. If anyone had gone into the water I dread to think …

Local attractions

The gorgeous city of Santiago de Compostela is a wonderful place to spend some time – there’s heaps to see here, so getting the shuttle in and out a couple of times is a great idea. The spectacular cathedral is the city’s glittering highlight, with the huge Praza do Obradoiro square just outside. Simply wandering the streets of the Old Town is lovely too – looking out for places like Praza da Quintana and stopping for drinks and eats along the way. To get a good overview of it all, head to Monte do Gozo (five minutes' drive/half an hour's walk), which has fabulous far-reaching views across the city’s rooftops. There are lots more places to have a walk nearby too (often involving a river or waterfall), plus fishing and horse riding. If you'd like to see a bit more of this part of Spain, Vigo, A Coruña and Pontevedra are all within an hour's drive, as is the lovely wine-producing coastal town of Cambados – all make excellent day trip options.
