  • Well-equipped glamping tents in a pine forest with direct beach access
  • On the coast between Huelva and the Doñana National Park
  • Swimming pool, kids' pool, restaurant and playground on site
Camping by the beach – but you don’t have to lift a finger to get your tent set up? That’s what’s on offer at Kampaoh Doñana, where the glamping tents have been set up and fully equipped ready for guests to move into. This seaside site is a fabulous location indeed, just a few metres away from the long stretch of sand that links Mazagón (10 minutes’ drive away) with the Doñana National Park. It’s a gloriously undeveloped stretch of beach here, with kilometres of sand and dunes and little in the way of infrastructure other than the remains of a 17th-century watchtower. The nature reserve atmosphere stretches into the site, which is filled with pine trees that lend the place shade, scent and scenic views. It’s a peaceful place where the relaxation stakes are upped higher by having everything in place when you arrive – tents are kitted out with beds and bed linen, seating, lighting, electric plugs and bath towels. You’ll even have a fridge to make sure you can always have a cool drink on hand. The glamping area is part of a larger campsite, so that means plenty of handy facilities on site too. Daily life often centres around the pool area, which has a main swimming pool and a fun kids’ pool (with slides, jets and a pirate ship to clamber on), and is right next to the restaurant – where you can chill out on the terrace while feasting on food from the buffet. A playground and supermarket are also on site, with more shops and places to eat nearby in Mazagón.

Local attractions

The beaches may well capture your attention for much of your stay here but there are some wonderful landscapes nearby – and several ways to explore them. For starters, you may like to sign up for horse riding at the local stables (two minutes’ walk), or go for something more unusual by heading to Aires Africanos (15 minutes’ drive) for camel rides. Guided tours of the Doñana National Park leave from El Rocio (half an hour), taking you to some of the best locations to spot wildlife. If you’d like to see some of the locality from the sea, head to Punta Umbría (45 minutes) for a boat trip through the Odiel Marshes – these trips are particularly excellent at sunset. Exploring under your own steam might take you to historic sights like Niebla Castle or the Dolmen de Soto (both 40 minutes), or into the city of Huelva (25 minutes), to visit the Casa Colon, Muelle del Tinto and Plaza San Pedro before wandering through the Barrio Reina Victoria to see the mix of European and Moorish architecture.
