- Pet-friendly guest farm on a spur of the stunning Cape Flower Route
- An hour from Clanwilliam and 30 minutes from Sevilla Rock Art Trail
- Spring-fed pool, hiking and biking trails, braai areas, honesty bar
Want to escape the city grind and daily life with fresh-air stays among colourful flowers? Head to Enjo Nature Farm, a family-friendly site an hour’s drive from the Cederberg town of Clanwilliam, for blooming fab hols within the Karoo Succulent Biome on a spur of the long-distance Cape Flower Route.
The site is well placed in the Karoo's stunningly scenic Biedouw valley on the banks of the Biedouw river, so is a top spot for spectacular hikes and bikes. Plenty of hiking/mountain bike/four wheel drive trails leave from the site and explorers will have plenty to do nearby.
Less active types will find unwinding an absolute cinch during on-site days… This is a farm, so there are lots of friendly animals milling about and friendly horses, cats and dogs will introduce themselves to guests. Well-timed visits will allow kids (and grownups) to bottle feed lambs during lambing season too.
For even lazier days, there’s a spring-fed dam for swimming, and loungers dotted along wooden decks for soaking up that South African sun, sipping sundowners (there’s an honesty bar with drinks and homemade treats in the main farm house) and gazing up at the stars.
Shaded breaks can be had in an old stable that’s been converted into a games room, and meals are sorted with firepits and braai facilities dotted around the site.

Local attractions
This part of South Africa is famed for two things: flowers and rooibos tea.
Get your fill of the first by driving along the Biedouw Valley, visiting Wupperthal (half an hour’s drive) and following the road from Clanwilliam an hour away to Citrusdal, then return to Clanwilliam for a taste of the second. The town's Rooibos Tea House has more than 100 teas on sale, does Rooibos tastings and baking classes, and created a Rooibos Route of must-visit farms.
Drives hereabouts aren’t just scenic because of the petals either… routes through Pakhuis Pass and the Tra Tra Valley come highly recommended for stunning vistas, and the Rocklands climbing area and the peak of Krakadouw Mountain (both within an hour) give spectacular views over the Karoo.
For more local flavours, spend some time in Citrusdal (the name isn’t a coincidence) and travel a little farther afield for tours and tastings at Piekenierskloof Wine Company and Cederberg Wines and Brewery – they’re both less than two hours from base, and the latter is home to the highest altitude wines in South Africa.
There’s history nearby too: to experience the region’s cultural past, follow the Sevilla Rock Art Trail along the Brannewyn river as you move between ancient pieces of San peoples’ art, or opt for a traditional donkey tour in Clanwilliam instead.
