Vodatent at Camping Gorishoek

The only difficulty you might have here is deciding what do first: the beach is a five-minute drive away for sandcastle building and swimming as well as watersports, a big draw here on the North Zeeland coast. As well as fine beaches, this area is dotted with nature reserves, such as the Pluimpot reserve right by the site and other dotted along the coast; explore on foot or on bikes, or canoe your way round spotting seals, gulls, oystercatchers and eagles. Camping Gorishoek is on the isle of Tholen, the last Dutch island to be turned into a peninsula by bridges, and an easygoing place of village steeples and flower fields. Scherpenisse (five minutes by car) has weekly markets where you can try the local honey, while Sint-Maartensdijk, also five minutes away, has a ruined castle to amble around. If you want to get active, De Speelmansplaten (15 minutes' drive) is the nearest place for quad biking, paintballing and assault courses. If that's given you a taste for the high octane stuff, have a go at Indoor Skydive Roosendaal (half an hour), to be blasted into the air and kept there with mega wind-jets. If you'd rather cling onto something while you're enjoying yourself, Klimbos Brabantsval (25 minutes) has high-up adventures on its very high climbing walls. For more sedate sightseeing at ground level, drive 25 minutes to Bergen op Zoom: a stately sort of place, steeped in history with a fortified palace and a museum to root about in.
