What a fabulous spot this is. DKamping Village is a holiday village overlooking the eastern shore of Lake Maggiore, in a setting famed for family holidays and sporty adventures on and around the country's second biggest lake. There's so (so) much to do around the lake and this slice of Lombardy, from waterskiing and sailing on Maggiore to pootling around the teeny towns of the shoreside, many overlooking the famed Borromean Islands. More urban adventures can be had around Pella, Ronco and Omegna, or you can spend some/many euros bagging Italian fashion around Varese and Novara. The nearest town, Ispra, is under five minutes' drive away. But do (do) take some time on site too. For there's not only direct access to the lake from here, there's a watersports centre with flyboards and e-foils, as well as kayak and pedalo rental. Landlubbing activities are easily sorted at the beach volleyball area, tennis court, basketball court and football pitch, and if you yearn for yet more water the site has a pool with waterslide. Eats? A site this well kitted out most certainly has that sorted also. The restaurant (with spectacular views of the lake and the surrounding mountains from its terrace) is the spot for pasta, pizza, meat, fish and takeaway; for doing it all yourself, the mini market is well stocked with local and international bits. Activities of all sorts run in the summer months – well, you might need to burn off all that pizza... Take your pick from exercise sessions, sports tournaments, water aerobics, baby dance, shows and nightly entertainment, all running alongside the July and August kids' club.

Great lakeside views! Staff are super friendly, facilities spotless. Food's a winner! Some noise issues, lake algae can be a bother. A few spots need TLC, access road is tight, and Wi-Fi's iffy.

Pas d'aide avec la tempête qu'il y a eu

Liked Nettes Personal und das Ostufer am Lago Maggiore war nicht so überlaufen. Der Pool ist toll und gerade für Kinder sehr zu empfehlen.

Disliked Da kann der Campingplatz zwar nichts dafür, aber wenn der Wasserstand so tief ist, dann kann man den See/Wasser bei diesem Camping Platz nicht benutzen (Schlamm). Vermutlich durch die Trockenheit und das wenige Wasser, hat es doch häufig unangenehm gerochen.

Liked Bootsverlei, Schatten und ruhiger Platz möglich. Personal freundlich.

Disliked Schwimmen oder paddeln nicht möglich da Seewassee zurück gegangen ist und Algenbwfall. Pool sauber aber zu voll zeitweise Kinder noch von außerhalb. Am Wochenende kommen Einheimisch dann ist es total überfüllt und Kot der Hunde liegt überall und Toiletten dann auch schmutzig. Nähe der Boote sehr Staubig. Personal bemüht um Abhilfe in allen Belangen zu finden. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten fußläufig schwierig wg. Straße und 1km.

Local attractions

The spectacular sights and activities of Lake Maggiore will probably take up much of your time here, but if you're up for exploring further, DKamping Village is within easy day trip distance of other local lakes. Head south for about 20 minutes to reach Lake Comabbio and its lakeshore bike path, running for 12 and a half kilometres from its starting point at Ternate. Going east, it's about half an hour from the site to Lake Orto and its medieval settlement of Orta San Giulio; and if you're up for the hour and a half drive, the glacial waters of splendid Lake Lugano are to the north east. Back at Maggiore, loop around the southern shore of the lake and up to its western one to get to Stresa, for boat trips to the Borromean Islands.
