Lovely lakeside campsite, great loos. Friendly staff. Pool & restaurant good. Beware noise from organised events/campers. Sun loungers pricey, some feel it needs a spruce-up.

Liked Showers were good. Great for kids, if you have them with you, lots of activities for kids. View over lake lovely. The town of Ispra is very pleasant with a lovely bar by church.

Disliked First pitch was tiny and miles from electric hook up and adjacent to communal bbq area. Also tricky to access. Definitely advise paying for larger pitch even if only in campervan. You have to book and pay for sunbeds. Currently €10 so not excessive. Lake lovely temp but very shallow and vast amounts of weed made it unpleasant snorkeling until about 300m away. Walk into town about 25mins but the first 10mins are on the roadside with no pavement and drivers do not give much room. There is a disco or similar each evening until about 11.30pm or midnight. You will hear it!

Liked This is a good site on the banks on the banks of the lake. Ideal for paddel boarders or canoes.
The facilities are very good, clean toilets and showers. It also benefits from a bar, restaurant and a swimming pool.

Disliked There were some scruffy old caravans near our pitch but obviously used by families as a weekend bolt hole.

Liked Liked the camp, lake, the villages around, amazing

Disliked We were given the pitch right next to the swimming pool and opposite the playground, and we did not know that camp does children activities for the children outside the camp, and they are on a daily basis. So there was no peace for us to enjoy, and some kids were still on the playground at midnight, and we could not sleep.

Local attractions

The spectacular sights and activities of Lake Maggiore will probably take up much of your time here, but if you're up for exploring further, International Camping Ispra is within easy day trip distance of other local lakes. Head south for about 20 minutes to reach Lake Comabbio and its lakeshore bike path, running for 12 and a half kilometres from its starting point at Ternate. Going east, it's about half an hour from the site to Lake Orto and its medieval settlement of Orta San Giulio; and if you're up for the hour and a half drive, the glacial waters of splendid Lake Lugano are to the north east. Back at Maggiore, loop around the southern shore of the lake and up to its western one to get to Stresa, for boat trips to the Borromean Islands.
