Looking for a stopover in North Rhine-Westphalia’s gorgeous Eifel National Park? Motorhome guests (and their dogs) will find a warm welcome at Wohnmobilhafen am Nationalpark Eifel, an easy 10 minutes’ walk from the centre of Gemünd. A well-maintained, tree-shaded touring site, it is surrounded by lush greenery and has pleasant gardens with picnic tables outside reception where you can relax after a long drive. Barbecues are permitted (with either gas or electric appliances), and there are also bierkellers, restaurants and takeaways in Gemünd. Numerous biking and cycling trails can be joined directly from the site, which is set in a forest close to the Urft river, with public transport within walking distance. Swimming and fishing spots are close by too, along with a good handful of historic attractions to mix in with your outdoor activities. Facilities at the hardstanding pitches include running water, hot showers and electric hook-ups (all for an extra cost). Also chargeable are waste disposal and use of the toilets (open 24/7). Grey water and cassette toilet disposal are both free to use.

This peaceful park's a pleasant surprise, with good services and private pitches hedged off. 'Anytime' arrival was a bit confusing with a closed reception, but payment was easy. Guests loved the beautiful surroundings and nearby town, perfect for spontaneous stays.

Liked De ligging van de Camperplaats is perfect, dicht bij het Centrum en zo de natuur in

Disliked Het koude, verouderde Toiletgebouw, ben bereid om voor de Douche te betalen maar om binnen te komen en geen gebruik te maken van de WC en 50 euro cent te betalen is overdreven
De Stroompalen is niet van deze tijd en het werkt ook niet, continu in de gaten houden of je nog Stroom heb ook in de na cht is niet relax
Dan liever iets meer betalen voor de plek en alles inclusief

Liked Great impromptu RV stop when we couldn't stay at our planned site.
Very peaceful and beautiful park area, right next to a small town.
All the services we needed, but you will need the exact coins to use them.
Arrival and leaving time is listed as 'anytime' so we had a lovely walk into the town and round the nearby park/ walking trails. All in all, a very pleasant Plan B .....

Disliked Not a problem as such, but the listing said you could arrive anytime, however the 'reception' hut was closed when we arrived around 6pm. I called the number on the door and was told to either put the money in an envelope or pay the next morning. No-one was around when we left about noon, so we just did the envelope thing.

You can access hiking and biking trails in Eifel National Park straight from your pitch. Other outdoor activities include swimming, dinghy sailing and watersports on the Eifel Rursee Reservoir (half an hour’s drive), where you can also take boat cruises around its forested shoreline. If you’re after a bit of local culture, explore Mariawald Abbey (15 minutes), a peaceful abbey with a small shop selling beer brewed by the monks. For a sharp reminder of mid-20th-century history, you can also visit Ordensburg Vogelsang (half an hour), a sprawling former Nazi training camp; for an understanding of its purpose, join guided tours of the vast complex, its brutalist sculptures and the rudimentary barracks where the cadets slept.
