  • Peaceful family site on Lake Annecy, surrounded by mountains
  • Windsurfing, paragliding, hang gliding and canyoning all nearby
  • Direct access to a public beach with waterski, kayak and pedalo rental
Ooh la la, the lakeside setting of Camping Le Lanfonnet is most magnifique. And this is not just any old lake – non, Lake Annecy is a veritable gem. The third largest in France, its clear waters are fed in by mountain streams to make up one of Europe’s cleanest lakes. Clearly, one must allow plenty of time for watery and waterside hours and hours, but there’s loads more to fill your days around here. A beach is a couple of minutes’ amble away from the site and two more lie within a 20-minute walk, for sunbathing days, canoeing, paddleboarding, scuba diving and heaps more. The site is well set up for activities too, with table tennis, table football, pétanque and a playground, as well as a TV room to retreat to for indoor times, and a bar-restaurant to fully investigate for local grub. Pick up essentials at the site grocery store in summer; at other times and for more shops, take a 20-minute stroll along the lakeside path to reach local village Talloires. A miniature golf course and tennis courts are up here too, and it’s the starting point for some great hiking and bike trails up into the hills. Restaurants and cafés are in the village and all along the lake shore for essential coffee and croissant pitstops or for a glass of vin with a view.

What customers say

Great lakeside spot, loads of shade & friendly staff. Shops & food nearby are a hit. Facilities are clean but a bit old. Wi-Fi/elec issues for some, but the location is top-notch. Highly recommended!

2 bedroom static caravan (no private bathroom amenities)

Liked Excellent location, own grassy access to lake, excellent bar restauarant lakeside. Great for paddle boarding.

Disliked Very costly for a very dated caravan in need of repair, with no running water. We knew it had no bathroom facilities in van, on site facilities need modernising ( no hand wash facilities for example)

From the manager: Hello,

We're updating you on the information that some of our mobile homes without bathroom facilities have sinks with a jerry supply water, and the sanitaries blocks are located between 20 and 50 meters away.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked Location was good, with direct access to the lake. Local restaurant was lovely but slightly pricey. Reception staff were nice, but a little slow on check out. Local canyoning is well worth doing.

Disliked We thought we had booked / requested Electric but this wasn't available when we arrived. The original pitch we were sent too was occupied, and tiny, and seemed at the end of the site right next to a public car park. After struggling to turn round in our near 7 metre van, we eventually got directed to another pitch that was far more suitable, but in complete shade, so unfortunately our solar wouldn't keep the batteries topped up for 3 days, meaning we had to keep moving the van to sunny spots for the fridge etc to keep going. However where the electric pitches were people were crammed in so tight they had no space at all between each other. The first night the campsite toilet facilities near the beach were disgusting, they are totally open for public use, and the showers and toilets were clearly being used by anyone and everyone. By late evening they were in a terrible state with fecies on the floor & urine everywhere. I do feel sorry for the staff having to clear it up. However with these facilities open for anyone to use it's not great for paying campers. The site itself is also totally open for people to wonder around, and the well used beach carpark path runs alongside the site passed the toilets. This left us feeling a bit uneasy about leaving anything out overnight, and if we went out for the day. Also some old dilapidated caravans dotted around the site, and part of the site cordoned off for 'danger of Asian hornets' I appreciate you can't control nature, but maybe getting someone in to sort the nest out would be a good idea if campers are at risk.

Liked Very nice beaches and a nice and friendly restaurant at the other side of the road . Camping showers and toilets are too old . And water at the pitches is under construction. Electricity is not always working . But location is most important.

Liked Location and setting was perfect!

Disliked Toilet/shower blocks were awful and very smelly. There were lighting issues in both toilets and kitchen, we were watching up in complete darkness. Waste for cleaning portables loos was overflowing, generally not kept well.

Local attractions

Several hiking and cycling trails around the lake start from Talloires village – a popular route from here is the hour-long walk up to the Cascade d’Angon waterfall. To get to other walks in the area, such as those in the Bout du Lac natural reserve, take the car (20 minutes to the nature reserve) or pick up the bus or boat services running all around the lake. On the hillside above the village is the medieval Château de Menthon-Saint-Bernard, where you can take a guided tour of some of its 100 rooms; pick from a traditional guided tour or one run by costumed actors to help fire up the kids’ imaginations. It’ll take you 15 minutes or so to drive up there or just over an hour to hike up. Watersports galore make the most of the gorgeous lake waters – just next to the site are waterskiing, wakeboarding and windsurfing lessons and canoes and sailing boats for hire, and up in Talloires are a paddleboarding school and a scuba diving centre. If you’d like to combine your watery pursuits and mountain exploration, sign up for a canyoning trip from the adventure sports centre a couple of minutes’ walk from the site. Adrenaline junkies with an eye for a great view can fly over the lake on a paragliding flight from just outside Talloires; meanwhile, those of a gentler persuasion might prefer a round of golf at Lake Annecy Golf Course, 10 minutes away. The handsome old town of Annecy is half an hour's drive away.
