  • Cosy dog-friendly lodges surrounded by woodlands in Anjou
  • A 10-minute drive from a zoo; 15 minutes from Château de Baugé
  • Locally-sourced food available to order; fully-equipped kitchen area
Looking for a nest in Anjou, close to the zoo, a nature reserve and medieval castles? Then, the cosy dog-friendly lodges at Tiny Stay Ecolodge may make the cut. These nests in Anjou are dubbed by the site as a ‘tiny house experience’ and you’ll soon see why, as they have homely, cocoon-feeling interiors with huge trees overhead… and of course, nature playing out in the surrounding woodlands. In this neck of the woods, you’ll be well-positioned for walking and cycling trails direct from the site. Handily, the site is five minutes’ drive away from Clefs, a small town in Maine-et-Loire, which has a couple of shops and a restaurant (to easily satisfy any tummy grumbles). For a bigger variety of restaurants, bars and shops, La Flèche is just 10 minutes’ drive away. How about those creature comforts too? Well, the lodges here have a fully-equipped kitchen and when you're looking to unwind outdoors, there's outdoor seating so that you can sit with the pleasant smells of the woodlands wafting around. Those of you with kids will be happy to find that special attention has been paid to little ones too, so there are books and games provided in the lodges. At the same time, the site pays attention to natural and ecological ingredients – that includes the food on site, made from artisan products from local organic farms. These can be booked via a digital menu on your smartphone accessible from a QR code in the lodges – easy peasy.

Local attractions

Got an affinity for water-based activities? You don’t need to be mermaid level to make the most of the water around here. There’s trout fishing at The Hubeau Mill (10 minutes’ drive) for those of you who prefer to stay on the shore. Fishing’s just one of the pursuits you’ll have on-hand at Lac de la Monnerie (20 minutes) too, where walking and cycling, swimming and sailing are just as popular. For something that will test your balance a little more, Anjou Wake Park (55 minutes) has lessons waterskiing, wakeboarding or kneeboarding. Into the animal world… firstly, there are the enclosures of Zoo de la Flèche (10 minutes). Then, there’s the wildlife-packed Réserve naturelle régionale des marais de Cré-sur-Loir et La Flèche (10 minutes) for more animals wandering around (just grab your binoculars and set off). A more historical trip is not far away from here either, whether that’s behind the medieval fortifications at Château de Baugé (15 minutes) or Château de Bazouges (15 minutes) or inside Tours (an hour and 10 minutes), where you’ll be able to tour the cathedral, museums and historical square.
