It's free, quick and easy!
- Friendly and well-kept site near the medieval town of Guerande
- Sandy beaches nearby
- Pool, pétanque court, play area and free wifi
Just Guerande gorgeous: Camping La Fontaine's location is properly fab. You'll find stacks to do around this friendly and spotlessly kept campsite in the old region of southern Brittany, as it's set rurally near the medieval town and old walls of Guerande, famed for its salt marshes and near more marshes and wetlands at the Brière Regional Natural Park.
It's close to the white sandy beach of La Baule too, the eight kilometres of sands stretching way out along the seaside resort locals have been ebbing to since the late nineteenth century. And as pour le activities… one could have swimming, surfing, sailing, golf, horse riding, strolling, or pedalling placidly along one of the many winding local off-road routes, all within easy reach...
La Fontaine's amiable owners Joelle and Marc have renovated the campsite since taking over in 2011 and have it all immaculately kept and up to date: there's a new pool, a pétanque court and a play area, along with an amenities block with free hot showers and disabled access, and a laundry room and washing-up corner.
Free wifi is available throughout the site.

Local attractions
As you'll see when you get there, there's stacks to do around Camping La Fontaine, whether your tastes tend towards the watery, the historic or just gawping at the local landscape: this is the place where we recommend you now look for the marshes of Guerande snapshot among the site pics…
More watery and snapworthy land is all around the nearby Brière Regional Nature Park, 40,000 hectares' worth of marshland, reed beds, canals, islands and wetland meadows. Take a boat trip to explore it at a properly leisurely pace, or bike your way up to the bell tower of Saint-Lyphard church for yet more snapworthy views of the marsh and its surrounds.
This is all very much a peaceful place, but to get even more into serene surrounds, take another boat trip or two around the islands of Houat and Hoëdic to the northeast of beaut Belle-Île, for Houat's beaches and paths, and the coves, fort and Neolithic sites of Hoëdic.
Gorgeous Guerande is one of France's Towns and Regions of Art and History and is best known for its medieval walls, among the best preserved in the country. We'd also recommend a wander around the harbour town of Croisic, for tucking into meals on said terrace and then seeing the critters at the Océarium; and day trips to Saint-Nazaire (20km) and to Sarzeau or Vannes (70km).
