Camping Les Paludiers

With the gorgeous Baie de La Barrière beach a couple of minutes’ walk away you may be tempted to settle on the sand for the duration, but if you’d like a little activity while you’re there, there’s a sailing school a few minutes’ trot along the sand. And if you’d like to mix up the beach views a bit, there are other fab stretches nearby: perhaps bike to La Govelle in 10 minutes or to the enormous swathe of sand at La Baule Escoublac in 20. Get a glimpse of those that lurk in the sea at the Océarium in Croisic, 15 minutes away by bike – more than 2,000 marine beasts hang out here, including sharks and penguins. Wildlife in its natural habitat can be spotted at the Brière Regional Natural Park, half an hour away, perhaps best toured on a traditional chaland boat... It’s worth stopping off in Guérande, 15 minutes’ drive away, to wander through the medieval streets and take a tour through the surrounding salt marshes. A museum charting the area’s salty past is in Batz-sur-Mer (as is a miniature golf course for small sorts with less tolerance for history).
